Has anyone had any experience with the 4.5 Inch 1st Generation Suzuki Suspension Lift from Zuki Nation or Altered Ego Motorsports in Kelowna, BC, Canada? Besides the regular 1.6 Liter models, they also claim that they have one for the 1.8 Liter Sidekick Sport, which should be compatible with the 1st Generation 2.0 Liter Vitaras. The 9" lift total is optional. The relevant issue is the reliability of the lift kit.

The strut spacer at the knuckle is the thing i cant get my head around. It stops the steering arm pointing upwards a bit but thats it. Its the pivot points that determin the path isnt it. What it does do its put the strut bolts in a single sheer

Yes the 9" lift is optional
You have the option of not fitting the tyres, or the 4.5" lift
That install said, only the lift, and tyres (31" tyres measuing 30") installed.

As per the reliability
He had 1 shock fail early on, and had to swap out the rear springs, or use bags of sand.
So that seems shit

Brake lines were snagging on springs
+1 on the shitty scale

He had to use washers to add width to all the bushes.
Right up there in the overall dodgy/shittyness.

Looks like there will be some good spring bind, so extra shit factor

The spacer on the strut is super dodgy.

That bracket on top of the diff (which replaces the factory ball joint bracket) appears poorly designed, offering very little rigidity.
Both these solutions are shit too.

That seems like a steaming pile of crap for US$2349

I'm no great fan of Calmini, but their front arms are OK. Their springs are OK if the rates work for you, their shocks and struts are garbage, as is the rear heim joint and bracketry, and they still can't drill metric holes.

However, despite all this, it has been approved for road use in all states of Australia.

I don't believe that will be possible with the altered ego lift, as it pretty much violates every principle an engineer will apply to pass a car for road use.

I'm interested as to what your motivation is. Posting "notifications" in a heap of threads (by the same guy?) are you just attempting to create a beef or what?

It's a garbage kit that is impossible to make legal due to all the hack engineering. If you want one buy it and work it out for yourself, but it's a bad idea.

My first thought following his post about the email to the manufacturer etc was "are you five?"

Then i considered perhaps he just wanted to actually engage the manufacturer and distributer in an intelligent discussion, which would be interesting.

Considered he has a vested interest in it.
Perhaps trying to open up a market here by creating some interest.
If so, very wrong target audience. Try facebook, there's way more stupid on facebook, but few will part with US$2349.

Mostly think hes just trying to cause trouble.

Id expect that to approach $4000 here after shipping and customs etc.

While the exchange rate isnt great, looking at median household incomes US $50k, AU $80k.
The delivered product would be about 5% of yearly median household income in both countries.
So the exchange rate/fiscal argument for us to dislike the kit is irrelevant too.
