hi people,

im in need of some advice on my steering with my diff conversion.

the diffs i bought came with a high steer arm, to make the arm work, i need to turn my pitman arm so while its driving straight, the arm is pointing straight out the drivers side.

now in doing this will i be able to use a small drag link to go from the pitman arm to high steer and instead of pushing left to right, i would now be pushing forwards/backwards.

will this effect quality of steer in anyway? dangerous?

From what i can remember the Hilux steering box has the pitman arm moving in parallel to the side of the chassis rail, not under / side to side like the sierra one.. This may cause a drama due to the change of angle between the "J" arm and the pitman arm. I hope whom ever sold you these diffs did not tell you that is was a high steer setup. This is just the stock "J" arm that has been bent up and the ball swapped to the other side??? You would be better to fit a proper high steer setup that will work with the standard steering box or adapting in another steering box all together. I would not recommend to try and use what you have or fit the standard Hilux box. Crossover high steer does away with the rod to the top of the diff and can handle a larger operating angle IE; flex

the stock steering on the diffs (what you have) is a pos design for hiluxes.

Hilux people change their steer box the surf/etc IFS box to suit the new aftermarket highsteer parts. (The steer box is similar to stock suzuki box setup, only bigger)

You keep your steer box. Find/design/make new highsteer arms for the knuckles.

yeah pubic, cut that off, and use one of these on the other end. So your steering will be like normal, except you'll probably have less turn, then change your steering box to something else. Got power steering yet?



PS. if you choose to have your car a bit low, this arm will be no good as the arm that connects from your steering box to this arm will hit the chassis under flex

but going by the two foot you have between the diff and chassis you should be right.
