lookin at doin a diff conversion in my 96 coil sprung sierra, either going toyota bundy diffs or hilux diffs, anyone done it b4 or know which diffs are better? any knowledge would be good

Bundy's have offset pumpkins so are better.

X2 on the bundy's as the pumpkins are offset the same as the sierra diffs so less tailshaft vibration problems

You have alot more work with a coily then a leafy. Trickier mountings.

Alot of cruisers have massive centres vwdave

60's are offset too like sierra's.

60's have massive centres front and rear like pootrols. So you'll need bigger tyres to clear stuff. I have heard they have the same c'vs size's as lux and similar,bundera's. So i'm unsure if they are worth the effort with the size and extra weight. Even with heavy shaving. (although i like the floating rear idea)

I think they come mostly with 4.11ratios's?

60's diffs are pretty cheap also.

Bundera's go for about $800+, Because of they are more rare then lux's and other good conversions, they have better ratio's for larger tyres and you have to hunt for them!

80 sreies diffs are 200mm wider than lux....

'zooker' has 60's on a lwb with 35's.

Check out 75 series. They have biggest axles out of the lot. The diff pumkpins are big too though.

Just throwing this out there....(not suggesting that this is the only way but another avenue) if you are thinking of only running 35s why don't you just cut off your coil and control arm mounts off your coily diffs and tack them onto a set of WT diffs braced with HD front axles and cvs and Rear HD axles. Heaps more clearance will run 35s happily and you will have a tonne more diff clearance.

If I was ever going to go bundy/lux/60 diffs I wouldn't be wanting to run anything under a 37" tyre. Zook diffs can be built to handle 35s easily.

THink of the diff clearance...you could shave another 1/2 inch off and have the same clearance as a patrol on 40"+ rubber.

It amuses me to see people building zooks with bigger diffs. All it does it put you on the same playing field as the vehicle you donored the diffs off.

I'd really love to see a hiluxed diff go up against a 60 series diffed zook and a HD upgraded diffed zook and measure the capabilities in a few different terrain types.

granted, jimbo_jones's rig on the 80s diffs is a pretty mad looking rig....so if you want a mad looking rig just do it!

I run 33s on Hilux diffs on a Sierra, it's exactly the same width as when i had 32s on Sierra diffs, you lose 10mm of clearence with hilux diff pumpkins. So i haven't lost any clearence and same width.

I can thrash it and not worry about CVs, or bent housings. I can upgrade to bigger tyres anytime without changing anything. I have more low down weight also.

the reason I am going bigger is I cant get anything bigger then 31s enganeered. And seeing as my step father is Cop I kinda need it to be lagit
