$110 for both sides zukenutter, its what I paid off weaves. Unused, have seals etc.

Scrawny - I asked weaves about it this morning, hopefully he will get back to me about it. I thought it may have been a bit weird when I asked weaves if any vits had cone shaped bearings, he didn't have a listing for them, however Joeblow suggested I use vit hubs because

no vitara had the same type of bearings as a leaf sierra, they are conical but still 2 bearings pre matched to a 1 piece race that presses into the hub, same as coily and jimny (but I dont know if they are the same bearing)

so still, once its worn you throw it, no adjustment

I'm curious, is it possible to just piss off the Jimny/Coily spindle and put in a Sierra one, and just use the Sierra hub and bearing setup?

My listings at work show vitara bearings to be the same as coily's/jimny's. excluding ones with ABS.

i'll have to change it.

i've got heaps of the other bearings at work too. i can do a swap of them for you. i'll arrange it on monday

Yeah Rush81 thats pretty much what a vit bearing looks like

you still do the nut up to something stupid cause its machined to a set preload, there is no adjustment in it at all

So i'm trying to sort Rusho out here and nothing going too smoothly.

his part number crosses over to what i have supplied. So i'm unsure what else to supply.

Has anyone does this conversion before and have part numbers for whats required.

yea very different. coilies are double row angular contact, what he's pictured are tapered rollers. but that tapered roller has a part number that cross's straight back to the coily double row.

If this is any help at all the genuine suzuki part numbers for all of them are ..

SJ 80 (coily) 09267-41001
SE416 vitara 09269-41001
sn series jimny , two different part numbers , depending on vin , one is the same as sj80
09267-41001
43462-84A00 < i just found that this part number supercedes the old part number for all jimny bearings ...

std sierra bearings are ; 09265-41001

Got around to doing the drivers side King Pin bearings and renewing the seal and scraper as I go. Will get the passenger side done during the week.

Thought I'd take some pics as I go as I'm sure there are others out there who will be interested.

Removing the vacuum hoses




Hung the disk rotor




Looking inside the hub part of the knuckle. Once the King Pins are removed the whole axle just slides out.




A close up view at the CV still covered in grease and the grime built up around the lower King Pin




Got the old races out with a cold chisel and a hammer




Gently levered then axle seal with a screwdriver




Knocked the races in like this



and this to seat them fully.




Everything back together with new scrapers visible.



All in all a pretty easy job. Will do the wheel bearings next

Have just given it a good hours run. The wobble is definitely better but is still there at a different speed. I still agree with Royce early harmonics theory. I'll get the King Pins done on the other side and see how that goes. If still no good I'll move on to the wheel bearings and in the meantime I need to replace the buckled alloy which has got to be a little bit of the problem as well.

I was going to pull it all apart and do wheel bearings and seal as well, but figured this way I could do it in stages to try to narrow down the culprit.

It was a little bit fiddly getting the axle splines in line but only a couple of second fiddly

How did you set the preload with all the shit hanging off it?

thats how you have to do shitheap toyotas and IMHO is wrong, you end up damaging the axle seal and spend too much time stuffing around, much better to pull the rotor off and undo the 4 14mm headed bolts to pull the whole stub axle off

pre-load... yeah, I had intended to look into that further, guess I got all impatient. It felt good when I bolted it all up, but I have nothing to compare to so I'll probably regret it in six months.

There were no shims in place and when it all snugged up so well so I didn't think it would need a shim/s.

You guys are probably thinking "You'll be sorry... FOOL!"

like most things when servicing and repairing cars its not the shiny new parts that make the difference its the checking and measuring and checking again that its now working within specs

SO if I pull it down and pre-load test it first where will I find the prescribed weights etc. I assume SuziSport or similar will do the shims. My manual has no mention of pre-load, and actually show this technique for removing the entire hub/knuckle in one piece. Is Jimny a little different maybe? The scrapers are different than Sierra.

the process might be different but there should be something in there about setting it

shims normally come in the kit, I would think they would be genuine only

I have spoken to SuziSport and Motor Spec who both have the kits and neither supply shims with the kit or stock them although I'm waiting for SS to double check. I read on another forum of a guy who installed shims into his Jimny to great success. I'm keen to try the shims just need to find them now. He made his own. Is this easily feasible.

I would imagine this shim is to add preload would look like a washer that would fit inside this one.? Like the first pic

Looks like the second shim is for releasing preload. Is that right?
