Ok so I have had my zook for coming on 3 months and in that time I have broken 4 transfercase mounts.
I now keep one with me and am getting sick of changing them.
Jimbo was telling me that he has made up a custom stronger mount. I was just wondering what everyone else is doing?

Ok so I guess I am confused with this hole lifting a transfercase.
Why would you want to lift the case? WOuldnt that put more stress on the Uni's? I understand some people to it so they dont hit it but I dont think I will have that problem. I dont want to lift it if its going to cause me problems with the Uni's

Heres what i did, also did the same on the drivers side. They havent failed me yet, well except on the last trip out, i did however break one of the high tensile bolts.. but thats the only thing that has ever busted, and ive done heaps of wheeling with this setup. There must a whole heap of strain on them hey!!

Dave you are SOA so the last thing you need is more angle on the uni's by lifting the Transfercase.

Get yourself some of these.... from LOWRANGEOFFROAD.. I run them with a Spidertrax transfer mount and they are awesome. According to Sean at Lowrange I am the only person in the world to have broken one but it was replaced quickly for free.
I'm suprised my transfer didn't shatter before that mount. Dropping the whole car onto the transfer isn't good for it!.

I like that idea Zooker cheap and easy. That looks like what jimbo was talking about...

I had a look on lowrangeoffroad and I couldnt find just the mounts its a cradle kit??? the pic you have up is just a poly block???

Yahh its funny how when you think something should brake it wont but when you just hopping a curb or something you loose a motor...

I would rather take 5 mins to relace a busted mount than to get towed out with a busted case...

Zookers setup is a bolt that will not break.
Lowrange ROCK4X mounts are TWO bolts set into a poly block so it still has some give but is virtually unbreakable.
Lowrange sell the blocks seperately just don't list them at the moment.. Send Sean an email and he'll let you know what the deal is.

Come to think of it.. i have replaced one..in 2 yrs!!! And 1 stock engine mount in 2 years!

i have efi, 6.5's and 33x12.5's welded rear and still going!!

This is true.... I actualy used a tie down strap to hold my transfer in place and it worked suprisingly well...

I was thinking of bonding a block of poly or a block of rubber to my lower floor just above the passanger side mount???

I was thinking it is more common on non locked rear diffs. Out of the people I know that dont have lockers they have all broken a few. the 3 guys I know that have any kind of rear lockers dont seem to have as many problems.

I know I am no light weight when it come to giving the drive train a hard time but I dont flog it. But I am not ruling out the big tyres and transfer gears. (all meaning more stress on the mounts)

You can make your own unbreakable or lifted or whatever mounts for about $40. Then you can satisfy yourself that they will suit your purpose.

I used 4 layers of 12mm Rubber, a 50mm sleeved poly block and an M10x120 8.8 bolt, a nut, a spring washer, a M10 50OD washer, and a regular washer for each of my mounts. They flex. They lift the case about 2 1/4". They're reversible. They can be dropped so the lift is only about 1/4".

$40 total including an extra mount...

Yeah Dave this is what I was talking about I have the same set up on my zook and it's twin locked 6.5 gears and 37's no probs with it yet
