Hi all, i drive a swb vitara 8v. i have the clunk sound when taking off (letting off the clutch). As mentioned in one of the threads, its apparent that some of you guys suffers from that too. but as time goes by and not solving the problem, it became a bigger problem.

Now when I take off the passenger side front wheel squeaks but the sound dies after i've reached a higher speed (probably overwhelmed by wind/motor/wheel noise). this noise is especially loud and noticeable when i reverse.

at speed the wheel has this rythmic thud sound as if the wheel isn't straight. and if you rev high in gear and let go of the gas suddenly, esp in gear 2 and 3, the car will slow down because of the engine and then there will be this rattling sound from I suppose the passenger front wheel. this rattling noise is sort of a metal on metal kinda noise and from my observation is esp so when it's in gear. when i let off the clutch it seems less so. at least not all the time when rolling in neutral.

i suspected it was the wheel bearing fouling but when i jacked the wheel up and checked for play it seemed fine.

took the wheel out, took the brake caliper out and found out that the brake pad on the inside of the brake has a 'groove outwards' on the upper side. checked the rotor and realised that there is a deep groove 'inwards' on the outer edge that had been cut into. hence the squeaky must have been from that.

but as i checked for play from the rotor it seemed fine so i guess the wheel bearing is fine~

hence i wanna get some advise on where could be wrong and what could have caused the cut in the rotor?

could it be some rock that got caught somewhere ie brake/tailshaft or whatever. any advise is appreciated and hope everyone can understand what i typed as i thought it was a bit all over the shop.

I don't have a vit or have ever seen a frontend but drive down a dusty road then see if there are any sections that don't have dust on the as it might have been rubbed off by a loose part. that might sort wether its inside or out... To me it sounds like a side gear in the rear diff... My rear door makes a high pitch rubbing noise, which is acctually my front right shock has worked itself loose again, so it may not be your front end at all...

If it had auto locking front hub's, thay can cause similar symptom's as well.
