hi guys

what sort of ks are reasonable on the 1.6 fuel injected? looking at getting one to put into a sierra comp car and wondering when they really start needing a rebuild. also interms of getting them back to reasonable is it just rings, seals and gaskets that really need doing or do the big ends and the pistons need replacing too?

mine has 160,000 on it and runs sweet.

i know its full history though, owned by an older couple and looked after.

Baleno 1.6 can be had with <100k on them

iv had two vitara's and both had the 1.6 efi
first one had 188xxx, that was running great no probs at all
second and current vitara has 157xxx still running great,
both were/ are serviced every 10,000ks

have been told they can do well into the 200,000's but would i think a rebuild would be needed by at leased 200,000ks

I got mine with 180000km on it, now had 260k on it and uses no oil, only work been dont to it are new rocker cover gasket and rear main

I think life and maintenence are more important than km, mine came from previous owners that did long drives not stop start cold running

the long km are prob the reason you yours has so many km without any probs thats why you see taxis with a million km and still running sweet they never get a chance to cool down you get your most were in a engine when the motors cold thats why you should always warm the motor up before driving ( I'm soure most people would already know this anyway)

thanks fellas. i understand that the type of running and the service and maintainece history are more important than actuall ks but as looking at getting an engine from suzuki shop here in perth that info will prolly not available. in any case will prolly rebuild most of the engine but the 160 k mark seams to be the consensus.

x2. I would rather an engine with 200000km's on it thats been serviced religiously than an engine with 40000kms on it thats never been serviced
