how do i take the cap off the top off my diff?
and is it pressureized?
i wanna take a pipe up to the fuel cap...

get some decent fuel rated hose.

i guess garden hose will last ok for the time that you own the car for (6 months)

On the Jim - The diff breathers are obvious. I found the T-case breather. Where is the Gearbox breather, and what am I looking for... a cap like the diffs, a rubber hose like the T-case or something else?

I pondered recently if one could just connect the pipes to the air intake at some point. I mean, if a snorkel is fitted, this would be the obvious solution.

There really isn't much point in doing that. Just run them high in the engine bay, put a filter on the end and call it done.

wouldn't u start poopin seals if you ran it into the snorkel, with thw forced air flow and all?

doubt it, snorkel's don't force that much air.

Yeah, I couldn't imagine that the small amount of pressure from the air intake would cause any issues. The seals are designed to hold in all that oil to.

Any idea where the Gearbox breather is?

yeah i run the air lines to the air intake, as if u were to get water in there the diffs are the least of your worries. im still to do it on the jimny but will do soon as i just replaced all the driveline oils. i have run diff breathers to the air intake on previous 4x4's with no problem.

That'll be it, should have a hose coming off it that clip's on to the fire wall.

Awesome. I didn't spend long looking for it. Must admit, I spent more time just admiring the layout and mulling ideas whilst on my back (under the car that is).

That looks like a pretty simple connection to the Billet system. The Ethelyn pipe just slips straight inside it. I expect the gearbox pipe will be similar size. Perhaps just a small hose clamp on each to keep em sealed.

I will now just ask them to send me adapters to connect to the diffs.

For those that might be curious, I do realise that the piping in the Billet system are quite small, but we are not wanting air FLOW, just pressure equalisation, which, even if there is a sudden change in temperature and hence pressure, it won't take long for that amount of air to pass through.

if ur after a spot to put ur breather pipes, u should proz try feeding it up into ur snorkel...if u got 1?
just above the bonet in the snorkel should be good, any higher and u might get some water in it if it is raining when ur driving.... but only i u got a snorkel of corse.

Not saying I am doing them now. I am able to drop in to Chris' shed any day. I had a look yesterday to see how they connected.

andypandy: Yes, I have a snorkel from ODA. I'm not sure what you mean by 'just above the bonnet in the snorkel'.

My plan is to install and seal 4 pipe connectors into the side of the air box. Connectors with an internal diameter of the OD of the Ethelyn pipe so as to not restrict it any further being so small.

No work has been done on the Jim since Monday because his offsider was off sick all week, as I mentioned in another thread. Not sure why that meant my project got set aside though.
