My driver side window winder has broken off, and I tend to leave it closed cause its a pain to wind it up nd down, so for security I leave it closed until I get a new one.

Anyway so I smell fuel to the point of my nose burning after driving for a while with the windows up.
Fuel economy seems to be the same, wondering what it could be?

loose fuel lines hard to tell weres it stronger front or back??
i put a hole in my tank last weekend and the smell was as strong inside and up front, as it was outside and underneight the back??

I'd say front, but its not often I sit in the back.

what id do is, if you have ramps or hoist jack it up get under and run your fingers under the car following fuel lines (have the car running so the fuel pressure will build obviously)
but run your fingers alon the fuel lines to find wet spots or even bettre look for wet spots on pavment? lol start at back champ (Y) then you can eliminate the back and worrry a bit more :O!!!

how far out the back does your exhaust stick?

does it get worse if you roll the back flap up?

Whilist driving, but not sitting? Check fuel isn't coming out of the breather on the fuel pump. If it is, replace the pump. If that is the case, then it could be mixing into your oil as well.

Driving and sitting it happens.

My exhaust sticks out right to the back, I roll up the back of the soft top sometimes to make it better.

The engine may possibly be running rich or burning oil.

Also because the exhaust it sticking straight out the back, this is why. Stock sierras have their zorst bent so it exits out the side of the vehicle.

All (most) sierras have fume problems if the exhaust is straight out back.

Mine is straight out back but it has like a dumper tip bend in it, i get no fumes but suzy is also efi and i dont have the usual massive softop...

Check your whole exhast sytem and maybe try modding your exhast outlet.

Have you got a bodylift?

I have a 2 inch body lift and haven't extended the hose for the filler neck, i just stretched it up, its come off before with the same problem. Stank the whole car up.

I'd be guessing its that.

Another thing to check is the carbon canister, on the passenger side firewall in the engine bay. I had a breather blockage somewhere and it would leak fuel out of the bottom of the carbon canister resulting in bad petty fumes in the car.

x2 This happened to me too. Unfortunately where the charcoal cannister sits, if fuel leaks it runs down the inner guard dripping off roughly where the engine pipe runs... which is shit, 'cause it scarred the f&@ck out of me listening to fuel sizzle.

Also (in coilies at least) in the cabin, behind the rh wheel arch cover is a fuel expansion tank. The fittings are pretty much press on and are only retained by piss weak little wire clamps. If one is loose you would definitely get fuel vapour/fumes in the cabin.
