anyone know of any type of car that has a small fuel tank? smaller in size than the sierra one. I thought i might go to the wreckers and have a browse, but if they are all about the same as a sierra there wont be much point.

mini is 20l and designed to go behind the wheel arch

whats it for? proper fuel cell or boat tank maybe?

for a sierra. a boat tank has been suggested, but i looked at your boat tank and it only has one outlet pipe, and would need a return pipe and breather etc?

the breather is built into the cap, which is good till you roll it

you dont have to have a return line either sierra will still run without it

yeah i talked to a dude that had a fuel cell, and said it cost him $300

ooo yeah that'd be alright. dunno if i could be bothered modifying it though .. easier to get something complete from the wreckers, or get jocks LJ50 one

Just a thought....I was in our local TJM dealer over the weekend. They had this nice neat looking little alloy air-tank for about $75. Maybe about 14"x5" - ish....would something like that be any good? Is Aluminium any good for petrol?
What about a fire-extinguisher tank? Whack a couple of fittings in, and away you go....

I went to the wreckers and wondered around looking at small cars, i found a couple minis, one was a van style lwb? and the tank was very wide and thin under the back, the other normal type mini was missing it's tank, bugger. All the other small cars had very wide and thin tanks that weren't suitable. So i saved money by not getting anything and used the standard sierra tank

a van tank is 25 litres, and yeah pretty skinny

i think they let anyone out the back, probably even you, just say you're from redcliffe and they'll give you the nod ... i think if you want something you have to go get it yourself

where's a link to the mini you're buying? i would assume they are not cheap things to get hold of?

its a bit busted needs a gearbox and the bits a person that doesnt know about minis would remove to get the engine / gearbox out

its a 68 though which is the shape I dont like but at least its over 30YO so I can start my own club and put it on club rego
