how do i go about lining up the clutch centred when putting the gearbox in?

Also cant remember which way the clutch plate faced when pulled it out. Does the meaty centre piece (with the springs) face out?

I just sit under the car and line the clutch up by eye. Run your fingers around the outside of the pressure plate to check for even gap to clutch all the way around...

Alternatively pull the input shaft out of an old gearbox.

Clutch plate usually has "Flywheel side" written on one side but the springs go towards gearbox.
