im putting in a new motor this weekend and was just wondering if i should the get the fly wheel machine the new motor im putting has an auto box so the fly wheel on it should be alright.

no flywheel in an auto box, it's called a flex plate and no you don't machine it just bolt it together

If you are fitting a manual with new clutch then definately get the flywheel machined. But as oozuk said, no flywheel in auto boxes.

I just had a new clutch put in. $100 to get the fly wheel machine and makes this cool whirl noise when you ride the clutch

Reminding you not to ride the clutch!! :roll:

I had a flywheel do that after a machine, drove me crazier.

yeah i found that out yesterday arvo that the auto dont have a fly wheel the same as the manual. i was going to definatley machine the one off the manual i was just tryin to see if i could get it all ready for the weekend. 100 bucks is dear for a flywheel to get machined last time my mate did his in his subaru it only cost 30 thanks for your imput

That is about right to have it done correctly. You should pay around $70-$100 to have the flywheel ground.

If it was just faced off in a lathe it may be cheaper but it isn't the right way to do it.
