My g16 isn't going that flash. To be honest it has been like this since i've had it and I thought it was fine but it wasn't until I drove another g16 that it appears something is wrong.

I've just recently replaced the AFM, but that hasn't appeared to have made any difference. I have to connect the check engine light to see if it's throwing codes. What colour is that one? From memory it's pink.

Chews fuel, stumble off idle, poor throttle response.

does it come back to idle properly or does it hang for a bit at 1200 then drop back?

I am pretty sure it mostly idles OK, though I have noticed that it does start idling a bit higher than normal (after initial warmup). I don't think it does as you describe though.

Yeah Jr Zook mentioned TPS, and that has been moved at some stage. How do I get that back in the right spot? 0v at idle i'm guessing, any idea which pins from the TPS I need to meter?

I've used one of them and they're not bad for what they are. Don't expect too much from them if you're used to the bigger scan tools though.

Damo, if you're out my way drop in and use our scan tool.

Closed loop system is usually activated at cruise not at idle and not accelerating. Also the O2 sensor response is quite slow and the engine should also run quite well without one. It will just be in open loop mod and not trim the fuel when cruising for optimal AFM

Isn't there a TPS reset procedure ie reset computer, hold pedal to the floor for a few seconds and then take your foot of for a few seconds?

Ah I do recall somewhere on suzuki info website the voltages were listed for idle and full throttle (I think).

Seen this thread Damo? Sounds like similar symptoms to yours. It was the fuel pump.

Worth a try. I don't think min is quite that bad but I will check it just the same.

I'm pretty sure it's got both plugs, i'll have to have another dig through the wiring and let you know. I need to get the overheating issue sorted first though

you didn't mention that before. sounds very much like you have a flogged out crank key. easiest way to tell is check if your ignition timing has moved ( with a light) and line up tdc on your harmonic balancer and then check at the flywheel . assuming you are using a 1.3 gearbox. if they are not both saying its tdc at the same time. its liquid metal time

I think I will check the crank key, though I did pay particular attention to doing up the bolt properly. From memory I even put Loctite on it.

I had a little look at a few things tonight and discovered the timing was out a bit  i'll give it a run tomorrow and see if that makes any difference.

I probably owe Hybrid a beer :?

Steknig, on the subject of the diag plug, I dug around the loom and found a 6 connector plug, but I am sure there is also a 4 connector plug somewhere. The 6 connector plug has the folling wires: violet/yellow, blue/yellow, violet, blue/red, black. Even if I get this overheating/performance issue sorted i'd still be keen to put a diag box on it.
