so as part of my xmas present was a uniden UHF (not brand new)
model number: UH-013
for anyone interested the new model is UH-015
both unit are police scanners as well. i chose this unit for 2 reasons. the price and the size (only cost me 100). these models have a full detachable face that can be remote mounted.
i made up a small bracket to hold the face in its current position and the module part is double sided taped to the top of the headunit.

I have a GME with remote head unit. I have mounted the base unit under the dash on the right and the head unit in front of the rear view mirror . When I get my Jim back, I will take some photos and post.

Is the police scanner digital or analogue?

I had mine up there once but I took it down due to the mic flying out of the clip & smashing around the cabin hitting everything including my Kenwood DVD screen which now has a chip in the screen. It looks good up there but I wouldn't mount them up there again.
As for digital scanners they are useless to listen to the police as not only are the police digital but its a rolling code encryption so just forget it.
Here is my 2 radios in my GU.. Top one is a Vertex 2200 Commercial & the bottom one is an Alinco DR620 UHF/VHF Amateur radio.

Are all police running encrypted?
I thought it was only certain states.

I am certain Perth is now digital. but i have only based that on not picking up any analogue signals from the police in the last few years

When i was looking to by a UHF unit, I didn't want to compramise my options when it comes to taking up dash space, so I went with the GME TX3440 remote mic unit and mounted the main unit under the ash tray, then fed the lines up through the center console.
