Does anyone have any suggestions for bigger radiators that fit Sierras?

I have the 2LV6 in but the V6 radiator is pretty tall and wide so doesn't want to fit. If the steering box wasn't there i reckon it'd fit.

Would the 1.6 vit radiator be big enough for the V6?

or is there another big radiator that might be suitable?

Ave you thought about a custom Alloy unit???...

I wouldn't way to risk it with a 1.6 rad itwould
only have to block up a small amount and cause problems

I dropped a Hiace radiator in the front just for shits and giggles. The fit is good and its pretty big. There are dimensions on eBay.

I'll let you in on a little secret, an xj Cherokee radiator fits perfectly in the rear tailgate area 7.5L capacity.

The 2LV6 Radiator is approx 555mm x 555mm. It fits between the chassis. It's very high, so if the top is at normal level, you have to remove all the steering dampner brackets because it goes that low.

I don't mind it sitting that low, it's just the steering box that's in the way. Unless i get a different steering arrangement, but the less work the better.

hmm i would say you can fit it in there just on measurements... maybe you should just mount a 80series power steering box on the out side of the chassis?

Is the V6 rad still a 2 core? I think the 1.6 rad is almost as wide but not quite as high.

My gut feeling is go with the 1.6 one Steve. Considering this zook is built for speed you wont need to worry about airflow through the radiator like a crawler. To be safe i'd make a cowling that funnels all the air coming through the grille and forces it through the radiator. Other than that just make sure the 1.6 rad is in good nick and dont fill it with tap water.

I still have the standard one and its never had a problem. I got some parts off a guy a few days ago that had a W/T with a toyota twin cam in it that had a huge radiator in it and I asked him about it and he said it was a Racing Genini radiator it was about 8 or more cm thick. Looked really nice and a perfect fit.

i have a jimny one in mine.. not sure of the model.. but holding the gti motor on the limmiter flat out in the mud for hours on end and not once has it got warm and it only has a pissy little thermo!

i think it just comes down to condition of radiator and coolent

Just buy a VT commadore or falcon radiator with thermos etc, and rear mount it steve. All you need is some small stainless pipe, a few rubber bends and an elec water pump.

Pete's on the money there, but as you want it to look as much like a Sdt zook as possible, I'd hunt round a wrecker with a measuring tape.

I run a civic aftermarket radiator. Picked it up super cheap but had to mod the top outlet. Unsure where the v6 wants the water..

I'm with Damo. You can have the biggest radiator possible but if you aren't getting the air to flow through it it's worth nothing. You need to force the air through it.

both inlet and outlet are on the passenger side.


I'd prefer to have a radiator in the front beause i think it'd get more airlfow through it, less work and doesn't take up room in the back.

They are shorter and smaller then the sierra one, but 60mm thick and all alloy.




With everything running on the passenger side it should be simpler to find one at a massive wreckers with a tape and sizes.

i'm looking for a new ali radiator to put with my G13b. emailed Aussie Desert Coolers, $750 bucks for one to fit. a bit rich. ebay has gemmi ones for 250 bucks from china. tried ARE radiators in brisbane, no reply. anyone else had better luck? definatley want a all ali one though, just need one that will fit!

ARE, Aussie Desert, PWR will all be around the same price.

My twin pass ally radiator with twin thermos cost me $1500

If you really want an ally radiator but you aren't prepared to pay for the VERY good quality ones from the above manufacturers, you are left with the chinese ebay options.

I just bought an ally one from lowrange for $250US, and I reckon its straight from china. Very poor quality, but as with most things, you get what you pay for........

That is the exact radiator that I have mentioned in my post above. Quality leaves alot to be desired.

Don't get me wrong, it has been tested and will certainly be an upgrade on a sierra radiator, but just don't look at it too hard. I recommend squinting actually

thought i might add to my last post..

i have a jimny radiator adapted in to my zook with a g13b gti motor.. and i can not get it above 100' (thermistat opens at 90)

driving it HARD in low range etc... havent had to use thermo yet.. (i have just in case in the mud in low range but didnt make a diffrence)

i think its about the condition of the radiator that comes in2 it alot
