Hello,
I bought a used suzuki vitara with a lot of kms.
Had it on the beach about 10 times with no dramas.
Yesterday, i got bogged and was reving the engine a fair bit then i started smelling burnt plastic with black smoke coming out the front.
After that, i couldnt put it into gear. Only reverse worked but it made a grinding noise going into reverse like the gears were crunching.
I turned it off for about 10 mins or so and the gears worked fine.
Everything seems to be working again.
It wasnt overheating, just the gearbox seemed to have died temporarily.
Anyone know what that is?
Clutch burnout?
Thanks

Also, whats it likey to cost?
Thanks

What sort of experience do you have working on cars. It does involve removing the gear box which is a big job for someone who doesn't know what they are doing.

Yeah, might just book it in.
Dont really have the best of tools, work a lot on motorbikes but dont know much about cars.
Any idea on cost for clutch and cable?
Also, would a gear oil change be recommended as it has done 220000kms.
