ok maybe a stupid question im instaling a 2000 model baleno 1.6 in a sierra and iv choped up the wiring loom so thats all sweet but iv broken the ignition barrel and i dont particularly want it anyway i want to install just a switch and a push button for the starter. so can anyone enlighton me as to what the wires on the back of the barrel are for please.

one will be constant power
then there will be acc1 which is radio etc
then acc2 which will be dash lights ppower for coil etc
and a start wire which when connected to power activates the starter

haha yeah i still want the car but its a comp rig and i think they will struggle to steal it with all witht he other anti borrow methods we are going to put in. i may in the end install a motorbike type ignition barrel somwhere in the car so that we have a key for it. but in the cab i just wanted the switch and the start button mainly for wank factor. So does anyone know the colours of the wires on the back of the baleno ignition i understand that there are the two accesory positions and the start circuit but i cant work out which is which.

Radio Frequency ID I think. Would allow you to only start the car when the tag is in proximity of the car.

get out a test light and test it out.... If you have a comp truck this should be simple for you.
with key off you will have a power this will be your constant power
Key in acc you will have main power acc power
key at start you guessed it that would be your start wire

Accessories wire is B/Bl
Ignition wire is Y/B
Starter wire is B/Y

thanks for the help i would and will put a multimeter on it when i plug it back in and fit the loom to the car. its all in pieces at the moment as the boys are still in the process of sortins suspension setup out so putting the engine in is on the back burner but im sorting the electrics out at night. but you are right i will be able to work it out when i plug it all back in.
