One thing you do not want to happen is committing to a 1600 conversion and finding yourself short of funds to finish the job.
And just because these bozo's have found there parts cheap, it doesn't mean that you will.
I have done the EFI 16v conversion plenty of times now, and costs have ranged from $400 for a complete conversion to $4000.
Do some research on parts prices where YOU live and see what is available TO YOU.
My guess is you will be better off just getting another 1.3 thats in better condition.

I never said don't waste your time with a 1.6. It is by far the best option. BUT!!!.......
If you don't have the coin to do it properly, then don't do it.

If ALL you want is a working motor then just search around for a good second hand motor and bolt it in. Its the easiest, cheapest, and quickest option.

I got my 8v carb 1.6 off polar_bear for $350 with about 175, 000 kms on it.
Plus benT adapter kit for $200.
So that side of things is very cheap, but as others have said other things pop up. and thats where the money goes up, like when pulling out old engine finding engine mounts shagged, replacing water pump, fuel pump, and then having carby rebuilt because engine has sat for a while unused, timing belt whilst front is off for the water pump. lots of little things do add up.
There is a big difference from the 1.3 to what i have done and very glad i did it. no way the 1.3 i had wouldve done the trip i did towing a trailer across western australia.

as i have already stated...

beleno are efi lol they are a late model car..
u need to think about it this way... where do i take my car.. how do i want it to perform, how much power etc, HOW RESPONCIBLE AM I!! u also need to weigh up how much your zook is worth! as a 1.6efi conversion is more than likey gona cost you WAY more than your car did!
i thought about all this and ended up with a GTI motor and i LOVE IT...
the 1.6 isnt the best option for tassie wheeling imo, we spend alot of our time in wheel spin and some times its the extra few ponies that get us there...
the gti motor revs harder, has instant throttle responce, loves to be held at high revs and anything above 2000rpm it is on song and is nice to drive! it is also a legal conversion, as in no need for engenring cert, and is fiarly straight forward.
also carbis SUCK.. if your going to do a converison do it right and go efi u will NEVER look back...
if u realy want i can take u for a lap in my zook... it go's harder on 31's than it ever did on 27's and is a dream to drive!

I have never heard of a beleno?
I think they have less responce.
Is it a carbis motor.
Can i engenring my beleno converison?
well my mate had a carbi 1.6 vit motor in his zook, it cost him no less than a arm and a leg and wasnt much better in tassie conditions to a g13a..The bloke still had 3 arms and 2 legs after that motor..
I am very RESPONCIBLE as i cant spall four shiat.
Pisstake over.
I think you need to state the facts on how your 1.3 twin cam is better then an efi 1.6 baleno motor.
Efi has alot of drama's for the unskilled newbies.
A carb 1.6 is the way to go on a tight budget.
You can always change the head to vit 16v efi later with more understanding about cars and motor fuel/wire systems.
How many 17yr olds have done a full engine conversion, even before they get their car licence?

thats the exact preoblem every one seems to think that every tom dick and harry is mechanical minded
i wanna start simple u might as well just tell me to go out and work a brand new 4lt v8 just for fun i wouldnt have a clue how to play with efi
and i dont really wanna stuff a good motor by tring to work out efi when i need my car soon to get me to work and every where else i need to go

I'd agree with that. Just get a decent 1.3, simple and you're driving, and probably th cheapest way.
or start your 1.6efi conversion, never finish it and not have enough money to pay anyone to finish it, then cut the diffs out for some bundy diffs, then part it all out and buy a Commodore.

Yes it is. 1.3 clutch and flywheel bolts to a 1.6 engine and works with your original 1.3 gearbox. 1.6 clutch will not work with your original gearbox.

its up to you mate but EFI = WIN hands down.. so responcive etc.. give mine a stab on the gass in the slippery stuff and it lights them up quick smart, no coffing and farting or hesetation...
at the end of the day its your choice and i think your silly to go a 1.6 carbi as the efort involved in makeing it legal, i am saying this as your a young driver and very likley to have a acedent if this is your daily... dont take that the wrong way its just that when u smash in 2 a ferari, your insurance will say... hahaha ilegal engine conversion we arnt covering you.

Assuming you have comprehensive insurance, go ring them and ask if you are driving along at the speed limit in your sierra with legal sized tyres and stock brakes but a 1.6 fitted and you run into tha ass of somebody if you will be covered, I bet they yes as the mod doesnt play a part in causing the accident, then ask again but this time you have a 1.3 and tyres that are too big, now they will laugh at you

Just a word from a nedwby to suzuki, the way I lookat things is that the first thought you have is normally the only one that you should go with that is how you learn if you can do it or it cant be done. I understand that money is always the killer but experience is priceless.

Yeah you will need to shop around mate. Also look at wrecked vehicle auctions, and other cars like Balenos.

Yeah that's a bit rich. I ended up paying 1600 for mine, 95 16v with 130k on the clock. That price incleded everything from flywheel to engine fan including the vehicle's entire loom. Was the only injected 1.6 i could find in the state at the time. Another mob wanted 1000 for a carby 1.6. Would be cheaper to track one down on the big island and freight it.
