Was getting a couple of quotes to get some lift in my Jimny and one mob suggested the 4WAY Jimny 80mm Lift Kit.

Anybody heard anything about this one - are they any good ?

Dunno about 4way but toughdog ones do the trick, very streetable ride, there are a few things worth doing along with the kit, pm me if u want more info.

Isn't 4way the same as Toughdog?

ninjadaniel - I won't be installing the parts myself as I have no mechanical ability whatsoever.

Reubs - The 4WAY parts are available at www.toughdogdealer.com.au so they must be related somehow ?

i seen the 80mm tough dog kit on that site for 1660 but i rang the local tough dog dealer and he said about 1400 for that kit so mite pay to check with your local place to see if you can get it cheaper

Macquarie 4x4 near Windsor quoted me $1900 for the 4WAY kit installed and ARB Penrith quoted me $2500 for the Tough Dog kit.

Yeah if I can ascertain these 4WAY kits are any good I get it done next year sometime when I'm due for new tyres.

I'll look at it again whenever they're due.

After going back to Macquarie 4x4 I've decided to go with the 4WAY kit which he has assured me is the Tough Dog kit. Before I go there tomorrow or Tuesday and book it in are there any downsides to getting an 80mm lift ?

you'll find out

ask them one very important thing. 'Do these kits come with a bump-stop spacers?' if the answer is 'no and they don't need it', than its a dodgy arsed system and get used to breaking shock mounts. (from experiance with 4-way/ tough dog stuff)

okay 80 mm lift then another 50mm lift with the bigger tyres when you get them. Its only 130mm you say so it should be super stable..........

Best thing is try driving your car up on some scary arse angles and see what it does and see how you feel THEN lift it.

I have no experience with the Tough Dog/4 Way system so can't comment but I have been running my Jimny at 80mm for a while. Sure you can't drive as hard when cornering and of course there will be more body roll but you'll probably find that it handles better than the stock suspension anyway. Regular Auszookers know that I recently rested mine against a bank but this had nothing to do with being top heavy.

To solve the twisting action on the rear shocks add these. They'll give you a little more wheel extension and lift the shock up to clear the axle + let the the lower shock mount pivot instead of bind and snap

I've decided to play it safe and just go with the more common 2" lift. Macquarie 4x4 gave me a price and it was half the price of the Tough Dog 80mm lift.

He's just checking out availability of the Old Man Emu kit for me (which I've seen in other threads might be an issue) and then I'll go ahead and book it in.

Hey zukenutter, could that be the problem on my jimny, its creaking from the shocks when I flex, but I cant see anywhere it could hit? Would that fix it?

With only a 2" lift I wouldn't think so although if you have shocks that are longer maybe. Maybe a bit of grease on and around the shock bushes will fix your creaking. The shock extensions are a pretty good addition.

Yeah I was thinkin grease them up first, but i want those extensions! then a skid plate haha!

Thanks for the advice guys, ended up going with the Old Man Emu 2" lift and I just had to get the bigger tyres on straight away too.
