Hey Gang

Found yet another sierra for sale. Its an 88. well i read the ad and he wants $1500 and its regoed till june.

Now i rang him up and he said its actually got no rego anymore, and its missing one of the rear drive shafts. Oh and no rust but we will have to wait and see about that.

So just some questions whats a rear drive fast worth? He said i could drive it in 4WD home. But home it about 150km away would this be a bad thing to do as the speed limit is 110.

I was thinking by the time i buy a permit from vic roads to drive it unregoed. I could just rent a trailer.

if you're adventurous you can drive it front wheel drive 150ks, . Shane (suzi owner) once broke a axle on his sierra and drove it front wheel drive to work everyday for weeks.

rear drive shaft from Suzisport are about $80 - $100.

88 is a narrow track, so you have to get a narrow track drive shaft. The flanges on each end are slightly different to the wide track flanges.

oh yeah so this car will most likely have the one litre engine?
and cause it says or nearest offer. Whats a fair price to offer him? cause he never advertised about having a missing drive shaft or no rego.

They came out with 1.3's from 85 onwards so could be either. If its a 5 speed then its the 1.3L, 4 speed is 1.0L... Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd offer him a grand, simply for the fact you'll have to spend money to fix it to make it drivable & get it passed etc and also you would be best off trailering it home.

Casper is on the edge. The change over was about 7th month 88 or there abouts. Casper is a 7/88 with W/T shafts but N/T flanges

yeah i guess we should've mentioned that bit. It's possible it could be a wide track if it was made towards the end of 88

and it'll be a 1.3

I drove mine around in front wheel drive for a while, but only short distances, its certainly very different and i hate front wheel drive cars

yeah well i was planing going to drag race my car tomorrow. but that could have fallen through over a bloody $4 part. Makes me mad. So i might go check it out on sunday.

Oh just a quick question is it hard to find engine numbers?

on the exhaust side if the block right up the back where the gearbox bolts

will be G13bla bla bla

so 13 stands for 1.3?

g13a is old 1.3
G13BA is new 1.3
G16 is 1.6
