Well the wheel bearing in the misses car is a bit wobbly so i thought i would repack them but have got a bit stuck on the last locking ring it just wont undo
Is there a special way or tool too undo them

Those bearings look more hammered than my coily ones Have you tryed the bolt trick in the rotors? It might give it enough leverage to move the retaining ring

think i might be helpfull if you post what car it is. i see you tryed the hammer and a punch or some sort.

have you cheaked around the back of it for a lock of some sort i know i got cough out like this when doing the zooks wheel bearings

They look like vit hubs. (coily and jims are very similar-ish)

yeah they are done up to like 150ft/lbs, IE fucking tight!!!

they arent adjustable either, if tis wobbly its new bearing time, about $60

funny you should mention that dude, cause im in the same boat with my girls vitara. tried to get the lock nut undone this arvo but didnt win im either goin to chisel it off and replace it or may have to use the oxy at work either way id suggest you buy a new locknut before you remove it, incase it gets to damaged
im wishing id just repacked when we first bought the car about 2 years ago. instead of waiting til they were noisy!

A decent punch and hammer gets it off pretty easy and doesnt damage the nut too badly

in that case, pop the rotor off and the circlip holding the driveshaft in and youll see 4 14mm bolts holding the hub and stub axle bit on, jsut undo them on both and swap the whole thing over

I just redid my front left bearing yesterday, and mine came off pretty easy. Are they supposed to be mega tight? I have to get new screws to go into the locking nut cos I had to drill 1 of them out! Doh

(I also paid 87$ per front bearing.....so they better friggen last)

Nah already thought about doing that but this ones on the drivers side and my wagon is all fucked up on that side

Yeah, I emailed him but after having dad show me how to replace the bearings (Gotta learn sometime), he said that he'll either take me down to autopro/repco RIGHT NOW and I can get them or he'll take my car off me (they were pretty worn).

Repco couldnt get them in and autopro only had one in. Ah well, bit of a learning curve. I get the other one tomorrow, but atleast I feel a tad safer knowing my wheel isn't gunna go walkabout when I drive. And FUCK its hard to get the sleeving out of the hub. Uncle helped me by putting some weld around the inside and it basically fell out!

I drove 11 months on a loose bearing, I think its helped warp a rotor but nothing drastic

this bearing was massively noisy but we still went on a few runs, when this happened we had limped at about 20km/hr for a while to try and get home you could hear it miles away

Yeah, thats what I'm afraid of. Not to mention i'm on my red P's so any excuse for a coppa to pull ya over, in there mind, is a good one. Gotta get new caliper pads too ....but i've learned a HEAP from just pulling all 4 wheels off and changing bearings. Now if only I could find out why my right wheel is further back then my left........

Funny seeing this thread , as I had the same problem and posted the same question last year .Bigger hammer and punch did the trick .

As for the tool i made one to tighten the lock ring back up , and even though they're high tensil bolts they still bent getting upto the correct tension.
So if some one does get a price on a tool can you send me a PM please.

take your rotor off & use heaps of wd40 or the like & leave it sit for a while, look's a bit rusty so it's prob just seized on, If the hammer you using doesn't get it, get a bigger one.
Subaru upper cylinder cleaner un stick's very well, if the wd or like doesn't, it's amazing shit

As for Royce saying get the suzuki tool, thay break real friggen easy, you wouldn't get a stuck one undone with em.

hey steking what difference dose taking the rotor off do?
we made a you buetas tool but the f@#ker won't budge where going to fit the ring to a large socket to get more leverage on it see how we go

Well finally got it back together yesturday we found the ezyest way to go about it was to take the whole stub axel off and put it a vice then belt the piss out of it
Brad flew up north today but when he gets back ill post up some pics of the socket he made for the locking ring
And just a reminder for anyone doing wheel bearings dont forget about the large circlip that holds the back bearing in (that was brads fault)at least we know we can strip them down and put the back together in half hour now

That way if you miss your finger with the hammer, you won't hit the rotor
