Hi All,
I want to strenghten the floor pan from the butchering it recieved from a previous owner. It has had the studs removed to install the BL blocks. So the questions are :
1 -What would be the best material(I am thinking flat bar perhaps)?
Sheet metal.2 -Thickness?
slightly thicker than standard floor material maybe 3mm3 - Would welding just to the floor pan be strong enough?
yes. what else would you do?
4- Ideas for the rear 2? Or is the way it bolts up ok?
Weld a plate washer onto the floor where the bolt goes through, then just cap the outside skin with sheet metal.5 -Would this sort of modification be OK for DOT as I want to get the BL certified?
Its not a mod, its a repair
6 - What do DOT look for to get BL approved?
correct materials used to make body lift kit, and general roadworthyness7- Cost involved at DOT?
no ideaA lot of questions, but I just want to get it right the first time.
Cheers
Adrian
You have to lodge a form to QT requesting permission to do a body lift before you can go and get it approved. Greg will have the details, and should chime in soon
