hey all
anyway doing a 1.6 conversion on my sisters sierra.
anyway the i have swapped the brackets from the 1.3 to the 1.6 on passenger side and just swapped the rubber on the rhs. now the lhs has bolted in but looks distorted and likely to break with any hard launches.
and the lhs looks like i needs to more forward by about 20mm
what can be done to fix this or is there any tips or things i can do to make it work a bit easier.
also using think its a suzi sport bellhousing adapter to mate standard g-box to new motor. should the adapter kit come with something for the engine mounts or nope?

aya Benos,

some kits come with the engine mounts, some don't.

The passenger side mount should be ok as standard i think, but the drivers side should be modified. You can get modified mounts, or you can re'drill the current mount. I think you can re-drill the hole backwards a little bit to accept the rubber mount bolt.

PS. reddrill the bolt in mount, no need to modif the chassis mount.

and the pass mount seems to be in and bolted in but like i said looks a little distorted. will post pics in a minute

as you can see the mount off the engine is about 20mm from where the bolts need to go.

and na not really just has a 2 inch lift and 31" bighorns
other than that pretty standard. she mainly drives it on road but comes camping with us occasionally. we are mainly doing the swap for a bit better economy and bit more power.

hey mate as steve said.. just redrill the mount to suit.. it should just work by the look of the pic.
which 1.6 is it? efi or carb? (not that it will change the mounts, just am curious)
best mod i ever did was transfer gears.. i am still running the 1.3 (soon to be a fresh engine)

well least thats give me some ideas of a way around it, will go down and sweet my a** off in my shed again and have a bit of a play.

My adaptor kit comes with the engine mount adaptor shown in the pic below to get around this issue.

BenTs kits are the goods

i think its somewhere around the 28mm mark that it offsets it?And the passenger side i filled in the hole and then redrilled it offset 6mm to make up for the adaptor plate at the gearbox.dont know if it was really necessary but its done now and sits straight.

I didnt use benTs rhs adaptor you see in his pic as i allready made one so if you get stuck i could post,but some 25x50 should get you out of trouble

hey all managed to redrill the whole mount out enough to get in there alright.
although we paid 350 for the adatper kit that looks basically identical to to the ben t kit but without the engine mount adapter. not real happy about that i can say.
now the next problem is the wiring but il make a new thread about that me thinks.

Did you buy your adaptor kit from an establishment at springwood?

I always recommend BenT kits. It is top quality gear and well priced!
