Hey guys,

Are the suzuki sierra tow bars strong enough to be used as a tow hitch? (assuming sierra towbars a built the same) With one of those tow-bar hitch receivers?

every sierra towbar i have seen doesnt use that style of hitch..

they use the bent piece of metal that bolts on with 2 bolts.

Do they? Damm. have got a sierra towbar somewhere never really looked at it tho (took it off the day i got it)

Trying to sort out some sort of rear recovery point..

make a new rear bar for it and incorporate a tow point.

i am looking at trying to fit the tow point you bolt on.. front one will b easy once i raise the bull bar.

But im going to wait and see wat the guys come up with at Millweld customs. Emailed them the other day to see if they did bars/snorkels etc for sierras and got news they just bought a sierra to make up bullbars, rearbars on.

I was only thinking this same question last night. I was thinking of taking off the tongue and welding up some sort of recovery hitch that bolts to the towbar where the tongue normally bolts up

why do you need to use this type of hitch? Why can't you just put a rated shackle through the eye of the towbar where the ball normally installs to?

K.I.S.S......hmm Keep It Simple Stupid.. now why didnt i think of that? well i really wanted something more permanent, but that will do for the time being until i fab something up

Are you looking for a recovery point or a tow hitch, do you still need the tow bar ? I cut the right angle mounting brackets off my old tow bar, bolted my hooks to those and bolted them back on. I tend to avoid doing full on snatches into next week, and would only ever use mine to recover a bigger wagon if I had to, but the few times I have used mine they have stayed put without any problems.
