dats wat i wanted to do.. unfortunately not the mustang shape  just the ta22... was really after either the 1uz or the 4agze but beggers can't be choosers..

They are both 6 cyls aren't they?
2TGEU's are readily available as are 3TGTE's.
3SGTEU are pretty common too but dunno about RWD gearboxes to suit.... Unless you want 4wd like in GT4 Celica.

Apparently the 1jz wont fit in a ta22.. but they will in a ta23..
cause the engine bay is 40mm longer :S

Make it fit. The firewall is only sheet metal after all.

I have a mate with 3SGTE in early hilux, he used a Toyota tarago bellhousing which fits 3S at flywheel end and W box at the other end. PM me if you like I have an excellent 18rg complete running with 5 speed, don't really want to sell it but you never know.
