ok after having my 1.6 in since just before xmas, ive broken 2 t/case mounts and im thinking of getting a roctoy ring or similar. but when i broke the first 1 i used a bit of 50mm solid rod with a hole drilled through to get me home, i could feel a lot of vibrations come through and im wondering are most after market t/case mounts like this?
also is it mainly just the passenger side mount that breaks (the expansion mount) or have people broken the 2 mounts on the drivers side as well (the compression mounts)
any way some feed back on this would be good, oh and where can i get a roctoy ring from? and what are they worth? cheers in advance

roctoy ring is used to strengthen the case by mounting it off my point and providing strength across the case (from one side to the other).

To stop breaking mounts you need to get better mounts.

Are you breaking genuine Suzuki mounts?

do you have reduction gears,adding stress to the mounts??
or are you stock geared and abusing the poor old thing and dumping the clutch all day?

In 4 years now i have never broken a mount,2 years with 6.5 gears,other 2 years with 5:12 diff gears and 31s.My arms are braced up to add strength and also now have a roctoy ring to spread the load.

Solid mounts=not a good idea but there are options such as civic,mazda,landrover and just cruizing kits sold on here

yep genuine mounts that i have been useing well i think the first one was?

and yes im using the original 1ltr gearing and i think my diff gears are 4.1s from what ive been told but havent had them out, and running on 31" muddies bagged to 10psi but i dont really dump the clutch everywhere only when theres things in the way
i did read the thread on the mazda mounts but havent seen how they hold up yet! and weather he just replaced the one mount or all three
so where did you get your roctoy ring from and how much was it and also are you using genuine mounts or beefed up ones cheers

the roctoy ring wont stop your mounts breaking. its meant to stop your case breaking.

ive got just_cruisin's transfer case lift & it seems great!.. in saying that i have never broken a mount... although the one in my jimny fell out once.

running stock mounts.they werent in the best condition 2 years ago when i installed the gears and now they dont seem any worse.little old looking and perished.When i do get around to replacing them id like to use just cruisings lift.Roctoy ring off Roctoy design fab,great bloke to deal with

I did mine like the image below. I made the setup myself with hi-tensile bolts and rubber bushes. I have got rockhopper gears and never had any dramas

I have the same set up as this and works well with 6.5's and 37's

that mount looks the goods but do you get much vibrations come through it if no where can i sorce the rubbers from cheers

I don't think I get any extra vib from this setup.

I used rubber bushes from the top of shock mounts similar to these, rubber not urethane though.
