I thought this one a bit odd...but thought I'd pass it on as a point of interest.

A workmate has been searching for a head for a '91 model Sierra (for a freind). I caught up with him the other day and he had found one, for a 1.3L, only to find the thing has a 1L engine in it.

I don't know anymore than that, just a '91 model Zook needing a head...but I would have assumed it to be 1.3L.

All conversions I have heard of go bigger...but a 1L into 1.3?

A bit puzzled.

that particular 91 model would be a maruti udydog , an indian made sierra , came out with 1 litre engine and wide track body and running gear , even had electronic ignition

Don't know if it's a ute...I don't think I've ever seena Maruti...how's that electronic ignition, good gear?

You can fit a 1.3 dizzy with electronic ignition to your one litre anyway bolt in fit

Is that so Tzar? Is there any advantage in doing that? I've wondered about it, but a workmate reckons it wouldn't be a good move...I don't know about them, but figured it might be an improvement.
What does electronic ignition do for the engine a normal dizzy doesn't?

The timing is always perfect. There are no points to replace. Once it is set that is it, not touched again.

Stronger spark = better burn.

Remember if it wasn't a better option why would every car manufacturer have it fitted to there vehicles nowdays? Why would they spend the extra money in production costs and loss of spare parts sales to fit it?

Makes sense. My friend is suspect about their reliability though. Are they reliable? I'd hate to be up scrub somewhere and have it cack itself. Then again, I guess you could always carry a spare dizzy with points just in case.
Is the electronic bit changeable?
Where would I get one of these if I were to look into it...?

they are pretty good, you dont really here of em dying naymore than points or condensors do

though I always thought you had to machine a 1 litre housing and fit the bits but never tried

you should eb able to get some form any 1.3 sierra

What machining is required? I work in a machineshop...so, unless it's something really exotic, I should be able to do it there. Might even be able to do it at home.

I dunno and I heard it from somebody known to make stuff up in order to profit from it

soemthing along the line of machining the inside of the 1 litre housing out to fit it all in

I would listen to TZAR, if he says it fits it probably does
