Thanks Pez, I've found that and it's working!

Will I need a new version of TomTom as well? I was running version 6 on the PDA.

Yes you will need a different (and newer) PNA version. PM Sent!

Pez

Thanks Pez. :P I got Ozi running quite quickly, and after a fair bit of rooting around, TomTom is running too. Well sort of, the maps are there, but I'm getting a "no GPS device" error. :?

Edit: All sorted now. I just changed the GPS settings

Hey Pez or any one that has one of these 4" GPS units from the USA
4" GPS dealexteme

Has anyone had any troubles with these systems since you have had it ?? broken parts or software going wrong ??

Because i am thinkin about getting one and loading OziexplorerCE (or something similar) on it as well as TomTom

Seems like the way to go

Hi,

It has a 5" screen (not 4"), and mine is still performing brilliantly after about 8 months of abuse!

The mounting bracket is not the best (a little bit "light duty"), but the GPS itself is great!

Ozi runs like a charm on mine. You can use my software on this GPS too. You can download it here: www.gpsunlock.net

Cheers,

Pez

my tom tom died the other day been trouble ever since i got it about 2 years ago. Anyway im after a turn by turn street nav job as well as offroad maps im gonna go down the netbook with plug in gps antenna and all the gps software. these netbooks are basically mini laptops. the ones im looking at are about $350 running windows xp and have huge storage good battery life and can play music. the other good thing about the setup is that ya dont have to touch the screen and smug it all the time and the key pad is the same as a computer so its far easier to find the letters than a silly alphabetical display

did i mention that they are a 10" screen

just another option for those out there looking.

so this is the setup iv got running so far. im gonna buy ozi explorer aswell some time soon.

so one of these for $50 bucks this is the gps receiver / antenna
Image

this is just a hp mini something its got a 10.1' screen and dosent weigh much at all it cost me $400 from jbs. it also goes on the internet and plays music and stuff better than a 5 inch gps i say. in this shot its running a dodgy version of garmin map source with shonky maps the maps are quite good thats just their name.

in this shot its running a dodgy version og igo8 that someone got to run on windows xp/vista and apparently windows 7 too coz thats the os on this little beaauty.
Image

Igo8 is basically turn by turn city navigation like a tom tom only bigger screen here and iv got maps for most of europe, australia, asia and america.

it works good.

First time I've read this thread, awesome just ordered one from Dealsextreme just over $100 Aus delivered. :P
I was thinking Hema, what was I thinking. I already have OZIExplorer and Sunmap maps, don't think my OZI is CE though. Even if I have to get the CE version offroad nav for under $200. :D
Thanks for the info Pez.

Hey Pez, my GPS just died
I had the 5" screen (same as yours), it lasted about a year, either in the sun on the dash, or rattling around in the glove box, and was dropped in mud more than a few times...

Can these ones be set up the same as the other one? Can I just pull the SD card from my old one and put it in the new one?
Or do I still have to stuff around moving files etc..

Or if I replaced the old one with the same model, could I just swap SD cards to get it working?
