YES they are extractors.
NO they won't make any noticable improvement to power or economy.

I bought a set for the vit as the stockers cracked in a few spots due to an oil leak from the rocker cover. I think they cost $225 delivered, i had them at my door in 18hrs They told me they wouldn't fit my car as it's an auto, but they did just fine

Hey, I put the $225 ebay extractors on my '96 Vitara, nothing major in performance at all, but the flow is much larger for the engine i'm putting together, the OEM would not of handled the through put.

Word of warning, you need to bend the pipe a little to get over the control arm and it comes as a 3-bolt flange and the original is 2 bolt.

You might like to use a swivel pipe, as it get some movement, but I didn't bother as it's an extra $200 and 5-6 beers in welding.

Yes, and definitely Yes !

Bought mine from MPH = Maximum Performance Headers, very happy with them, they are an Aussie product and well made, $220 and free delivery, cant complain, i had a noticeable performance boost when i had them and the 2inch sports system fitted, get up to 4000rpm and over, and it almost feels like a small turbo boost !!!

I'm With MacBear.

I got the same brand extractors for my coily for $220 delivered. Allong with a full 2 inch sports exhaust with a hi flow cat and a straight through muffler it made a Huge difference. $670 all up including extractors and i can keep up with a G16a Powered Sierra It has a nice throaty sound to it aswell.

I was looking at the same ones on ebay but decided to go to my local guy instead. He quoted me $800 with everything myles got. The closest i got to this was 1300 so im happy.

But can anyone tell me if it make a difference on highway driving. What i mostly do is HWY driving and the jimny just cant handle it, apart from struggling to get to 100km/h it chews through the fuel like nothing else. anyone?

I do a bit of highway driving to the sunny coast and back every now and again... Not 100% sure what it was like before I got the exhaust cause i didnt have my license back then but now that it's all done I can quite easily get to 110 on the speedo with 235 at's and standard gearing and still have power left to pass people

I have a fully rebuilt engine and all new running gear though so probably not the best example..

I know that it did give me a good increase in torque though.. Before I got the system done I used to take the corner at the bottom of my street in 3rd at 40kph, floor it to the top of the hill and be doing about 45kph when I got there... Now that the systems done I get to about 60kph by the top of the hill..

Well my Jimny drives doing 100km/h in 5th gear at just over 4k revs. Thats quite alot considering it redlines at 6. I just thought it would be a lot better on those long drives being a smaller engine, but the smaller engine so far has meant i can't do the long drives at all.

Those RPM seem a bit high for 5th gear at 100kph... my Vit with the g16a engine, does 3500rpm at 100kph in 5th, does 3800rpm at 110kph in 5th, and 4300rpm at 120kph in 5th gear...

But yes the extractors and sports system do improve performance/torque onroad, it purrs along on the Hway, but also has power in reserve for a quick overtake, and is very "energetic" on normal roads, tried it offroad once on the beach, and it was good !

I just dropped mine off today to get full 2 inch system including headers, high flow Cat Convertor, sports muffler blah blah etc for $1000 on the nose.

I need it done soon for Rego so think i probably paid $100-$150 premium to get it done this week, as the original system had holes in rear muffler etc.

Have used this local guy in the past on an old XE S Pack I had and he did a great job.
I am happy to pay a bit more to keep the business local and in your area.
I am interested to see what performance gains i will get from it, however will be happier if it at least sounds a bit better.

Thats $850ish. And I would expect a small discount just on the basis that thats a fucken rude price, so $750 is the most I would pay.

Having said that I was quoted $400 for extractor back system including a new cat for my ute about 3 months ago.

I'd shop around if I were you....

Your not wrong. My exhaust on my turbocharged subaru liberty owes me less than that. Equal length headers (subaru headers are pretty damn big), full metal substrate 3 inch cat, 3 inch madrel bent pipe, flanges, resonator, muffler, bell mouth splitter dump pipe, smooth transition to 2.75inch diff back section.

Yeah i know i probably paid $200-$300 more than I could have if i shopped around but it doesn't really bother me for a few reasons.

1. I needed it done ASAP and in fact was done within 24Hours. I dropped it in yesterday afternoon and was ready to be picked up at lunch time today. So for that i was happy to pay a bit extra for speedy service.

2. I have used the guy in the past and know he does a very good job. Maybe a bit more expensive that most but in my mind I am prepared to pay a bit more for great service and know you are getting a good job done 1st time.

3. He is a local Guy and has been in business at the same shop for many years. I think it is always good to support local guys and people that do great work as much as possible as good tradesmen seem to be slowly becoming a thing of the past.

4. I didn't waste a few hours ringing/driving around getting multiple quotes and getting screwed around by people and places that aren't really interested and probably don't give a stuff.

Each to their own on how much money they want to save by shopping around and going to someone that offers the cheapest price possible.
As I suggested $300 extra to me isn't that big of a deal based on the above points and knowing it should last should last 5-10 years.
