I need to borrow, rent or buy a trailer for my Jimny for this weekend.
If I have to buy one, It will need to be just teh right size. i don't want a trailer that is going to be way oversized. Only needs to have a load rating of a tonne or so plus the weight of the trailer of course.
Just need top get it to LCMP this weekend.
Send me a PM if you got something I can use.

cant really help with the trailer department, but just thought that i would mention that the towing rating as specified in the user manual is 350kg un braked, and then 450kg with brakes. Im sure you will pull a bit more, but wouldnt want to push things too much
=)

I believe he wants a trailer to put his Jimny ON, not to tow with Jimny.

Yes, Looking for a trailer to carry the jim to LCMP tomorrow.
After much searching, I found nothing by 4pm this arvo and had to hire one from Matilda. Costing me $200 for 3 days.
I will now keep an eye open for a light weight trailer for carrying same. I also want a second hand Hayman reece tow hitch for my Mercedes MB100 van. I am NOT paying $900 for a new one.
The style of trailer I want is where you drive up and over the wheel arches of the trailer. It will still want to be a little wider for stability but this will keep it reasonably narrow and light.
Quote: So it's fixed?? Yes and no. The door closes reasonable now. Matty put a lot of weight on it to square it up a bit. More work needed to get it right though. Quote: Won't it fit on your new one??
Don't know what new one, or of what, you are referring to.

Stegnig was referring to my new trailer, yeah Bugsta rang me Steve but it's not rego'd yet. I am doing a couple of Suzuki friendly mods, it will carry 2 spare suzuki wheels, jerry cans, fully equiped tool box, removeable mounted vice and work bench, removable hand winch etc. A bit like Darrens setup but not to that extent, he has mounts that hold spare suzuki springs, gearbox, transfer, axles, diff centres, fuel system etc etc.

Not exactly what you are looking for , but I have a fully enclosed tandem car trailer that needs a little work. Has large lift up rear door, and side access door. Was previously towed behind a Bus around OZ.
Welcome to make an offer on it, before I list it on ebay.
I don't have any pics just yet, trailer is sitting at Bald Hills. Call me to arrange a look if interested.
Regards
Darryl

How tall is the enclosure? He has to be able to fit a lifted jimny with exo cage over roof into it

Fatzook. Thats pretty close to what i had in mind. Yes, smaller.
I think the wheel arches could be more shaped over the wheelsso the Jimny's wheels sit in lower and keep the COG lower. I reckon we could use smaller wheels than you would for a larger trailer due to less weight overall. This would then allow them to be closer together anyway.
I have 5 spare stock wheels we could use! A bit big maybe.
2stroker. That setup sounds awesome.
DarrylH. Don't know. Yeah, some pics and measurements would be great. What sort of money would you be looking at?
I have 4 months to sort something out now anyway, so I have the luxury of shopping around to find what I want at a reasonable price.
If I cannot find what I want, I'll get it built.

Dunno. I have a super sized Hayman Reece style mounted directly between the chasis rails. I reckon over a ton.
It'll be the limit of the engine capability that will stop it

From Redbook:
Kerb Weight (kg) 1060
Tare Mass (kg) 1036
Gross Vehicle Mass (kg) 1420
Pay Load (kg) 360
Towing Braked (kg) 1300
Towing Not Braked (kg) 350
This makes the average 6X4 untowable??????? Strange...
1300kg less the weight of the car Approx 1060kg allowing for some bar work would maybe a little higher. So leaves you with a 240kg trailer!!!! The average 6x4 probably weighs that.
You might have to stick to your original tow car....

What do ya reckon Peter. Can we make a trailer weighing as little as 240kg?

If you went single axle, and literally just made it as a frame I think you would go close...
Think along these lines but without the timber, or second axle, and made just big enough to fit the Jim
I still reckon it will weigh 400ish, but I can knock up a design and get a better estimate of weight. You will need electric braked axle with drop hubs tho....
