i got new leads for my sierra with 1.6 conversion and now it won't go don't even get the starter motor click. help! anyone

check coil wires and all earths in the vicinity.

yeah all the dash lights and can hear the fuel pump but not the starter

if you have a test light check to see that the you have switching down at the starter..

no test light, unfortunately. any ideas, people to ring maybe?

check the little wire to the starter hasnt wiggled loose, then try using a screwdriver with a insulated handle to start it.
Turn the ignition on then touch the screwdriver on the earth terminal on the starter and the power terminal at the same time just dont be touching the metal when it arcs, that should turn it over.

it made the started whined but car still no go, i must of stuff the lead order or something.but i have put leads in coresponding order on engine from front to back front being 1 back bein 4 and put lead on cap that has the same number eg closest to the fan being 1 matched to number 1 as written on distriputor cap.

check your battery. As eldo just said the leads have nothing to do with the starter. You starter may have just shit it self.

if it just wined then id say your started has just died, you can get an auto leccy to fix it for about $100 if you take it out yourself or get a new one.

Ok lets think about this, the car was running and then he changed the leads and now it wont run.

He said it would not even crank over so either the battery was flat or the starter was getting no power.

MrRocky suggested he use a screw driver across the terminals on the starter to bypass the ignition.

He did that and said that it "whined but car still no go" what is whined? is he is saying it wound over but the car would not fire? or is he saying the starter made a whining sound but did not engage and crank the engine

If it did crank the engine, did he have the igntion key on or off at the time, if it was off obviously it would not start.

There is a fair bit lost in the explaination which is making it hard to diagnose. It is a modified car with an engine conversion done so there may be an ignition relay or aditional wire that you have disturbed while changing leads.
