Something strange is going on! who ya going call!? Auszookers!

umm ok... Has anyone experience in their sierras random sluggish behaviour?

Mine has been doing it for about a week now...It used to be able to hold 100 on a slight incline no probs and now it struggles to buggery and loses speed rapidly.. and accelerating up to 100 is taking a lot longer...

I know they are mean fast machines, but It's worse off than what i'm used to with it...

It started about the same time I did and oil/filter change. I can't remember if it was just before or after.

Any ideas what may cause it to behave like this? what should I be looking at?

what oil did you use?

this happened to me once. i changed fuel filter (the one everyone forgets is there) and clean out me carbie and she was better then new. hope it helps

mines also been running like shite at low revs (bottom end of gears), I suspect either choke playing up or this weather. but could be interested to see what answers come up here

could also be some crap fuel aswell but that just my 2 cents more than likley a bad bit of oil

S13RR4 ...... i ran some bad fuel in my old g13a and i found it ate out the oring on the idol soleniod. ran horrible until i rev it.. easy as to check. just unbolt soleniod and see if they still there. (its on ya carbie)

Penrite HPR 30 (from memory without looking 20-60W).

Fuel filter was changed 5000km ago, how often should they last?

depends on how crap the fuel ya getting is. i pulled up at bam bam springs to fuel up. and within 20km's after fuelen i could not get over 50km/h. and it was not old filter. not saying that your prob. just a thought and easy check, empty filter onto paper towel, see wat comes out

check you havent bumped a vacuum line off when you were in there or spilled oil on the dissy

Hrm, was a bit wet around dizzy today... I'll have a closer look.

Speaking of vacuum lines, there is a little bit of oil coming into the airbox through the large vacuum hose going into it. It was clean oil so i know it's recently gone thru. should i worry about that?

where that hose goes into teh inlet manifold, pull it off and spray some carb cleaner down into the manifold, thats the pcv valve and can cause drama if its dirty as well

that was a bit silly then wasn't it hahaha,

nah its quite possible, I have only been doing short trips to uni (like 2km) so I think its just a bit cold, and choke is functioning properly, still trying to get mechanism perfect. I'll have a look around the carby on weekend and check over fuel pump like you suggested, (although that was only replaced not too long ago)
