can someone school me on the 1.6l 8V vitara engine.
To drop one in a sierra, the conversion kit is needed?
All mounting points for accessories are the same (alternator/ A/C pump ect)?
The head ports and bolt patterns are the same a s a 1300?
If so will the extractors still fit clearance wise?
Reasons are Im considering an 8v 1.6 to replace the 1.3, and use the injection setup I currently have on my 1.3. Will this cope with the increased capacity and drain of the 1.6?

The inlet manifold and exhaust manifold bolt patterns are the same on a 8V 1.3 and an 8V 1.6. The block is about 15mm taller from the crank centreline to the head gasket, so although your extractors will still fit the head, will you have clearance where the exhaust turns and goes under the firewall and under the floor? 1.6 extractors are longer for this clearance.
As for your injection system, the 1.6 is nearly 25% bigger in capacity and will need a proportionate increase of air flow and fuel supplied. Will your EFI be capable of being modified for that sort of increase? If you have a throttle body injector, it might be hard to supply the extra fuel needed. If you have multi-point injectors (which have only come out on the GTi 1.3 from factory), replacement injectors are available in different flow rates, so you might not even have to reprogram the computer.

what was the injection off originaly? the mounts on the block for the a/c power steer are different on a 1.6. also the valves in the 1.6 head are a little bigger.

Vince the TBI setup you have is off an import Vitara 1.6...
Putting it back onto a 1.6 8V will present no problems at all.
Most accessories will bolt up the same but some of the tapped holes in the block can sometimes differ. EG the AC bracket.
As mentioned above deck is higher so ehaust will get lifted up and may need clearancing.

excellent, thats what I wanted to hear
and, I was told that the valve size is virtually negligible between the two 8v engines, how much would a 1.6 block suffer running the 1.3 head due to the different cams?

aaaand, A single point injected 16v swift motor, would that use the same wiring as my setup?
as for the physical engine install, Im assuming it would be the same as the baleno with the water rail ect.

umm...yes they were an australian spec vehicle, not an import. done many over the years and the efi is different to that of an 8 valve. the import ones were the vehicles with a slide type high pressure carb.
(EDIT......was talking of swift motor )
