I have a 92 sierra stockman and i have been offered a 1.3ltr motor from a mate.
i want to know what it would take to convert it to the 1.3?
will it require the mounts to be moved or will it bolt strait on, and will i need to accuire the 1.3 gearbox aswell or is it possible to fit it to my 4 speed box?

Being a '92, your stock is made by Maruti? So it's a 1.0 engine.
The mounts will need to be changed. a 5spd box would be a worthwhile upgrade regardless of whether it's required.

Despite the freebie motor, you might as well go straight to a G16a as the conversion is basically identical. Or the EFI option with a g16b.

whats wrong with the 1 litre? is it dead/dying. if it's good keep it a 1 litre. if it's getting sad then rebuild the 1 litre.

I reckon the 1 litre motors are great, they rev hard all day long and have a much better carby on them. their only let down is the 4 speed gearbox, but a 5 speed from a 1 litre maruti or super carry will solve that problem if you can find one. (I am in the process of fitting one to my zook)

but thats just thats my biased opinion.

as far as I know to fit the 1.3 properly you need to cut off the 1 litre engine mounts and weld on 1.3's.
and you will need the 5 speed box from a 1.3 aswell.

PS: welcome to auszookers.

Agreed. I converted my 1L SJ40T to 1.3L (as I had a donor car), but it's just as much effort to go to [insert whatever model engine you like] as the mounts need swapping (motor and g/box).

bolt 2 bits of 10mm plate to your mounts, sit engine on plates, bolt up g/box mounts to keep it straight, make sure engine is centered by lifting up and down a few times then weld/bolt away. sorry if this doesnt make much sense try this - http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/viewtopic.php?t=37821
