Thought i might post this in here..
i made a soild top for my tray so i can tie stuff down to it and keep the stuff under it secure...
i used a piece of checker 900x1350x1.6
some foam tape (used to seel doors etc)
m8x30mm bolts x2
m8 eye bolts
etching primer
and Saturn black paint..
pics speak for themselves
still need to add some hook velcro up top to match windbreaker

Looks neat especially in satin (not saturn) black. Tailgate still open and close with it on? Ps I think your zuk just regurgitated some wiring in the last pic

If you want to put heavy stuff on top, I'd suggest some sort of support bars on the inside... the middle will bow in...

Hey mate looks good. The paint will scrape off the first time you pit anything on it. If you take it to your local "rhino liner" people and get them to spray it. It will turn out even better and the black will hold up.

what type of support do you have under it? i wouldnt want to put more than a swag on it.
what are you going to do about the air coming in under the cargo barrier bit? it will let a shit load of cold air in in winter.
i agree with v.w.dave's idea. it will scratch easy.
how have you got it attached to the body?
looks neat tho.

Looks great in the black! Really like the tail end pieces too! Nice job.
I'm looking at using the same plating to replace the inside panels in the Vitara.
