hmmmm, what are planning on doing?
Oh dear ! ''
I was afraid someone might ask that question, it is a very long story, but they say confession is good for the soul.
I am hoping to eventually build a 4WD Hot Rod (29 Ford) and am researching and scrounging parts for a double wishbone independent front suspension.
I now have most of it figured out, and all the bits that go round and round are basically all from a Nissan Skyline GTR, including the front diff and drive shafts, hubs, brakes and so on....
That will all work just as it is, the front track will be the same as a GTR, but the two front GTR drive shafts are different lengths, and that will look ugly because it will all be exposed to view, and will look different on each side.
Now the interesting bit.
Only two companies make differentials in Japan, Toyota, and Fuji Heavy Industries. Toyota diffs are unique, but every other Japanese vehicle uses the Fuji diff in one form or another. So what very few people know, is that there is MASSIVE unexpected interchangeability between many quite seemingly unrelated Japanese vehicles.
So what I am trying to do is discover what might fit with regard to spline count and various drive shaft lengths. The same Fuji R160 diff center used in a Zuke is also used in some Mazda, Subaru, Datsun, and Nissan vehicles.
Not every single part is interchangeable, but some definitely are. It is all a bit of a stab in the dark really, but it is a challenging project that is proving to be very interesting.
The GTR shares the exact same 22 spline shaft end as the Zuke that fits into the outer CV joints. Also the R160 diff center is the same size in GTR and Zuke. So fitting some Zuke front drive bits to my project may be a distinct possibility.
believe it or not !
