the lwb in the thread ' lwb sierra ' has two, i'm sure the new owner will post a pick when he spots this thread. The second one was tucked up high in the middle of the car and was the style of a long range tank.

I have looked at the blue LWB Luke bought yesterday and I can say with all certainty that the second tank fitted to that car is definately not a factory install....
I have seen two other Sierra's with 2nd tanks and they were just as rough...
I have never seen any literature to support 2nd fuel tanks being available as an option.

Back in the day QR used LWB Suzukis and they were fitted with an aux. tank that ran down the inside of the chassis rail on the passenger side next to the rear tailshaft. From memory the tank capacity was about 90L!

Yeah Damo is right, most of the older neat factory looking dual tank LWB are ex railway vehicles. The green LWB I recently sold was dual tank and was so neat that I could not fault it, the tank was on the passenger side mounted very well, it actually extended up and over the rear tail shaft with the filler coming out the drivers side. It had a high volume external electric fuel pump set to transfer fuel from the auxillary tank to the filler neck of the standard tank. This way there was no second fuel cauge or sender unit to worry about. I have just bought two more LWB sierras one rolling minus engine and the other in pieces, the roller is an ex railway with dual tanks, I have not had a good look at it yet, when I get it home I will take some picks.

hey champ as the other guys have all said gee i feel popular since i bought this lwb i have twin tanks its about half way up ill get some pics soon as my room mate gets home if she does cpome home and ill post em up for you but mines def not stock as wants 33's said its home made but seems to be a decent 50l tank but by the looks when i bought it it has not been used ina long time

would an electric clacker fuel pump be ok to use as a transfer pump?

thats my problem im not sure how my fuel pumps between the two im going to drop the 2nd one out and see how it works and see if there is a fuel guage sender unit installed as there is a wire running from it just not sure what its for as it runs to nothing

My GQ has a 120 litre 2nd tank with a facet 'clacker' type pump to transfer fuel to the standard 80 litre tank.
Solid state or even an SU pressure pump out of a mini will work fine.

i was thinking something along hte same lines of shep with having the duel tanks and installing a pump that runs between the 2 tanks so if you see your guage is low then flix the pump on until your main tank reads full again. i was also going to instal another fuel tank guage in the car so you can see where your secondary tank is as well one of my mates have done this set up on there patrol an seems to work really well.

It's a tourer, run's different wheel's to counter the weight of full tank's.

hey bud heres a pic of my 2nd fuel tank its not installed the cleanest through the car but it does the job. im planning on pulling the tank out then im going to be hooking up a hose that runs from the 2nd tank to the main tank using a electric fuel pump to a switch on my dash then i will be installing a gauge to the 2nd tank and then that way if my main tank starts to run low flick the switch and just watch the main fuel tank gauge and when it hits full turn it off that way you don't have to worry about return lines and plumbing both tanks to run automatically. also will have the 2nd guage to watch so you can monitor where all your fuel is at between the 2 tanks. hope this helps if you want any more pics let me know

yeh sure bud i can do that. if you look at that picture at the bottom it bolts onto a rail that runs from one side of the chasis to to the other on the front and back not sure if its stock or not but ill get some pics today for ya. i will also be getting some measurments one day lol so i can send you them to.

hey guys some dimensions on my tank for you all also the rear tab that hangs the tank sits 140mm from the bottom of the tank. the tank it self is bolted onto 2 rails that have a bracket that sits from one side of the chasis to the other and then has 2 bolts on each bracket through the chasis.
