Hey all,
I have a 1995 hardtop 1.3L Sierra and managed to crack the transfer case at stockton beach on the weekend due to a dodgey mount.

Does anyone have a direct replacement or some advice as to how i could go about fixing my problem. The car is still driving (i managed to get it back to sydney) but i'm not sure how much longer it will last with no oil in the transfer case.

It's got a crack on the side with the 2 mounts which is about 10cm long. I remember reading somewhere that i may be able to use a transfer case off another sierra but am not sure on the details.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, i was wondering how i could ensure that the mount doesn't break again.

I'm also in the market for some shock ( mine are dead). I have 2inch shackles and leaf over diffs.

Cheers,

jT

I rekcon its not gonna last much longer with no oil... I have one in Perth but freight would be a killer... Not sure I wanna part with my spare either...

There is various discussion on here about stronger t-case mounts... but generally speaking having the mount as a weak point is a good thing... Usually the mount will break before the case, and as long as you don't thrash it round the bush with a broken mount your case will br fine...

If you have solid mounts then the weakest point becomes the case...

Also, consider a Roctoy ring for the case if you are worried about breaking another..

First of all welcome to Auszooker. Its always good to have more sydney people.

Mate if you can wait till next week I will help you out. I live in Baulkham hills. I have 4 complete transfer cases and about 4 in bits laying around my shed. The only reason I can't help you out just this second is I am in America doing my Snap-On training.

Depending on how bad the crack is and where it is there is a very slim chance it can be fixed. If not I have plenty of parts to fix it or a simple replacement.

As said above you may want to think about puting a rock ring on it (I have one here you can get off me or order one off just_cruizen) It also sounds like you may have a bit of a built up rig and may look into getting some better lower gears at this time.
I can help you out what ever way you want to go. I have all the tools and press at my place.
I get back in Sydney Sunday morning just give me a call sometime after 1pm if you want
my name is Dave and number is 0449 256 629

Get real guys. Realistically postage would be at least 10 buck. So your saving at least 15 bucks. On a $60 item thats over 20%
