Just wondering how interchangeable these are.
Are they the same just look different?

Also are Vitara hubs the same too?

I was under the impression coily and Vitara are the same, and leafy Sierra are different to those.

Just got these spacer rings that allow fitting SJ manual hubs without having to grind off the vacuum pipe bit. Haven't had the stock auto hubs off yet but the instructions seem very straight forward. The seller reckons I can use Leaf sprung Sierra or Vitara hubs. He's running Vit hubs on his.

Mainly want manual hubs for when I'm towing the camper trailer. Will be nice to run in low range with the hubs unlocked while backing up on hard surfaces. I had a mate come by today and I was explaining this to him and his response was, "Why don't you just set-up a switch so you can turn off the vacuum" D'oh!! Oh well I have the spacers now.

People say both coily or Vitara ones for use on a GV. Thats where I got the impression they are the same from. If they are, and the fellow you bought the kits from says either leaf Sierra or Vit ones will work, then you should be OK with any Suzuki free wheeling hub . Sound right?

Your mate's idea still sounds better. Easier and cheaper - all you'd need is a tap in the vacuum line to blank off the airflow. And you wouldn't have to buggerise around with adaptors and different hub types. And the best bit is with the tap open the system would be completely normal - no getting out to lock hubs or anything. You'd be crazy not to go down that line.

You're so right, but I have the spacers now damn it. Will have a look in the morning. I've not had any problems with the auto hubs but a lot of others do so manual hubs may just make things a bit more reliable. I have to get out to air down anyway, so locking the hubs is no big deal. An in-cab lock/unlock would be pretty cool though.

i got the manual hubs on mine, they were off a siera not idea wat sort as i just got them from the wreckers. they fit no worries @ all.

trust me its about a 5min job to change them over. just do what i did and put a shit load of the red loctite gasket goo stuff on each side to seal them.

edit:
i reckon it would be easier to fit the manual hubs than the vacum switch, u got the gear now. i think the vacum switch would be a pain to setup and get working properly.

Zukenutter, call me old school mate but fixing those hubs by making them manual is a great start, next thing is to get rid of that push button 4x4 selection and you will be on your way back to tried and proven, simple, basic reliability.

Mine is pre-push button

Mrs Zukenutter has push button but when I swap over to her Jimny I'll swap my transfer case into it, along with all my other goodies including the manual hubs.

sierra ones wont even get close to fitting a jimny, best use vitara ones which normally still require you to cut the vacuum ring but with your plates u should be fine.
