Has anyone come across the problem that after doing a 2" body lift on a 92 leafy SWB that when driving along in second gear it pops out. I have tried making the gear leaver boot retaining bracket smaller and even removing the boot completely but it still comes out under acceleration. Hope someone has some ideas. The gearbox has just had a complete rebuild so possibly something is not working properly.
Thanks

u might need to cut a small amount out of ur tunnel to allow it to get 2nd gear properly i think this happends to most body lifts on sierras

Would this only help if the gear leaver was hitting the side of the tunnel becasue it goes into second and doesn't hit it at all??

It might be the gearbox moving with the torque of the engine if you know what I mean. Might be enough to pop it out of 2nd. Do a bit more trimming

I cut and extended my levers as well as cut a bit of the floor out - although this is in my NT 1L, with 1.3L running gear - tunnel is different.

reason this happens is cause the rubber boot pulls you out of 2nd gear. loosen the boot, put it in 2nd and stretch the boot downward, then tighten back up. If this fails you can either keep your hand on the shifter or lengthen the section of shifter that comes out of the gearbox before the first bend, 1" should do it
