has anyone fitted or known someone who was fitted the european 1.9ltr vitara diesel engines into an australian vitara 1.6 g16b?

Theres the current 1.9 GV DDiS (Renault) engine but you'd struggle to get all the gear in. My old man has one of these and the engine bay is packed!!

They import the older 2.0 TD (Peugeot) GV (shaped like the burgundy one in ODA1's pics above) into NZ so you could potentially get a front cut of that vehicle from Japan.

Apparently the locost crowd are good at importing frontcuts for their clubbies so you could try and arrange something with them.

The 2000 GV was the first to receive the Peugeot diesel. Vitara and GV before that were fitted with the Mazda RF, which is quite readily available as an import or rebuild..
