Im not exactly sure what model i have bought.Around 1980? Or is it older?Havent picked it up yet.Cant wait.








Is this a 800cc engine?The old bloke said it hasnt run for 3 years since the fuel tank got a hole in it.Are they a tough engine.

Reverse gear im told doesnt work either.Is this something common?

The cab will have to come off for repairs.It has flintstone floor pans.

you can buy bar treads but not ones like that. the new ones have a HUGE load rating and are like 12 ply which are no good for any light suzuki 4wd

800cc motor LJ81. Looks pretty original too.
The motors rev hard but when they go its usually not to drastic. New rings/pistions lower bearings etc. The heads sometimes get eatin out if they have not been used for a while.

Nice wasp nest on the top of the rocker cover by the way.

Thanks fellas.I couldnt believe how good it was.From the add it sounded very sad.Do these things hold their value well if restored?Have been a panel beater for 15 years and never done any of my own vehicles up from ground up.

I think i may have stumbled upon another two.One is a hardtop in very poor condition and the other a soft top with a rolla motor in it.Just have to see if my mate still wants them.He offered them to me a couple years ago and i had no interest in them at the time.Now the bug has bitten.

Great find there. This will come up awsome.
You can get Simex Centipede tyres in 29x7.5-15" 6PR that look the part, might be the way to go pretty much as close as you can get, or historic rally tyres, narrow and tall but not bar treads.

Sad this other softy is in such bad condition.
You should grab both the others for parts and strip them if you have the space.

I learnt to drive in the LJ50 soft top and had the best time of my life in that little wasp. It was a blast and what a beast. Love the smell of 2-stroke in the morning

put that into google and you will find quite a few tyres are available still. Most are maxuimum 6 ply and some are 4 ply

Well the softy is gone.But the smashed hardtop is still there.Might have to grab it for parts i think.

Well its finally home.Brought it home saturday.Started work on sunday.First job was clean up.All the crap removed and a quick cut polish.Bugger me there is still paint under all that chalk.The little bugger still runs too.Had to open the points a little and stuck a charged battery its way.Plus some help from the BBQ bottle and it was running for the first time in 3.5 years.Not a breath of smoke while i ran on the gas.Then i rigged up a tempory fuel set up and it was running on petrol.Then there was smoke hahahah.But no rattles from the engine.

Reverse gear has me stumped.Its almost like the linkage wont go far enough and only gets half of reverse.It goes in and when the clutch is lifted it goes mad with the grinding.Probably a dud gear?I have adjusted the gear stick in the cab.The box is so small.Its even smaller than a holden crash box.



Rust isnt a major issue.It isnt getting registered.Way to much cancer in the body for a resto.But i will be looking for another body and parts.

The rust is extensive.All around the inside of the roof,floors,A pillars are bad.The N/S A pillar is gone all the way to that pipe under the dash.But its all inside.The floors will be fixed enough to be safe and i will be making it as reliable as possible.Even if it means swapping driveline.I plan on taking this down to my mates farm and bringing the other zook home for major work.







Anzac day weekend i was back down the coast at my mates playing with the sierra.I have had a proper look at this thing now.Its an 1988 model.I did have my lightforce (used and abused) 240 spotlight mounted on it.But the lens needs a buff so it now has my 11inch pro powabeam on it.Looks like the moon has landed.Bloody thing looked huge on my patrol.
