More questions.....
I have just got a coily (i know not the best for extream mods, but that is not what i want and this one was cheap)
I want to lift it a little just to make it capable and fit 215ish tyres. Nothing silly. 2 inches will be enough. But I dont want it to ride like a piece of crap. So what gives the best (I like soft and smooth) ride with the best articulation? Body lift OR Spring spacers OR 2in extend springs and shocks?
My though would be,
.. A body lift will make it ride exactly the same and flex the same, just the body sits further above the chassis.
..Spring spacers will take out the slack in the suspension, so make the ride more rigid.
..New, extended springs and shocks (ebay) will lift the car and help with articulation but I dont know what the eventual ride will be like. Harder or softer than standard?
feel free to correct me if i am wrong
I got a coily as i thought they would be a smoother ride, but this thing is pretty bloody stiff. I want it softer.
My question is, how should i do it and get the end result i want.

wel it is a swb 4x4, the ride isnt going to be like a rolls royce...
i have done a spring lift on my jimny and its gone a little harder, but not heaps, i have king springs and ultima shocks...
the problem with spacers is that ull need longer travel shocks as well, otherwise the shock will top out alot. the body lift of course doesnt do much to the car so everything stays the same. i am running 235's and have 2 in of lift, and there is still light scrubbing on articulation. so im thinking of doing a body lift as well, but im sure for 215 it would be fine.

put new coils and shocks, mine rode so much better with new coils and shocks... made it a new car!

go for the ultima lift kit on ebay it is very smooth and it is a decent price.
coil spacers will not fit on the standard front struts, they are very short.
I would not use coil spacers for anything other then to level the car out if it is sagging at one end.
i have 35mm spacer on the front of mine because the king springs are very soft. I have an extra 60kg on the front with a winch, bar and 2nd battery.
a body lift would be the cheapest way to lift the car and fit bigger tyres.

You don't need a lift to run 215/75/15.

Seems new coils and shocks are in order. Thanks for all the info on the other option.
Gotta get some tyres first (215 I think) then I will look into the lift.

It would be the better option anyway. You're looking at a vehicle which is over 10 years old. Springs and Shocks wear out which stuffs ride comfort up. So you may end up with something nicer to drive.
Then as mentioned, it's a small light SWB 4WD, it's never going to be completely comfortable.

If you want the best bang for your buck to run 215s, just go and
buy an off the shelf 40mm kit. thats heaps to run 215s. I competed
on this combo for ages until I wanted more. Honestly you don't want
to gain lift by coil spacers, all they do is lift the suspension and
decrease down travel, I'd only use it to level up from front to back,
side to side. Just my opinion.
