i think the inlet manifold and sump/oil pickup are different. Heaps of people still use them though.

Look in my buildup. I have a 98+ baleno g16b in a sierra.

There are various differences.

Ignition types
Water
Different sensors
Etc.

You can use vit g16b extractors and jimny g13b ones

Hit me with a question, and i will answer it :D

ya you need to use the baleno wiring loom, ecu as the sensors are different to vitara, make sure to get a baleno engine that uses COP (coil on plug) setup, as opposed to a dizzy because you will find the dizzy doesnt fit in the sierra engine bay.

The sump will have to be modified and transferred from the sierra, you will also have to modify the vitara pickup as the sierra sump is much deeper.

If you dont change the sump you will end up hitting it with your diff. Buy a BenT adaptor kit from ebay & you will get some very detailed instructions :)

Having just done this, the coilpack option is a much easier one. Mine's running with a dizzy baleno motor, but I had to cannibalise the baleno and old vitara dizzy, along with using a vitara cam and dizzy bracket. A lot more hassle than it's worth...get a later model motor, or a proper vitara one :P
