Hey everyone.
I have no idea about gearboxes so I'm asking for some help and advise.
My Jim's a G13bb which is 10,000 klms new after it's big end repair and I've noticed a bit of leak which seems to be coming from somewhere on top of the gearbox.
Does anyone know if it could be a simple seal gone on either of the gear shifts or could it be the rear main.There is no oil visible at the back of the block.To me its coming from the top where the shifts go in the top.
But she's starting to make a real mess.
What do you reckon?

First thing I would do is clean, clean clean. All that dirt is masking the source. A hell of a job but when its clean you will be able to identify excactly where its coming from and take it from there. The drip on the drain plug doesn't look like gear oil to me though.

95% of that dirt looking stuff is some rust proofing shit that the guy got installed before I bought the car, but ya right I think its motor oil but I'm not losing any.

I just put my 2008 Jimny in for some warranty work tonight - leaking rear gearbox seal. It's splashing a teeny little bit of oil around which is getting on the cat and producing a slight burning smell.

Yep it does smell but my leak ain't tiny by the looks.
Please let me know what the part was mate.

a cup of oil can go a long way mate
best thing to do is what DMAC said and give it a good degrease and clean, then just take it for a drive and check it when you come back. you should be able to see where its coming from

Nip up your drain & fill plug, the most commen oil leak's i see in NEW Suzuki's is the bung's, thay over tighten every thing else & only nip up the bung's..
