Does anyone have a 16 valve g16 with a air temp sensor?

Some manufacturers sometimes put the air temp sensor in the airflow meter, but my MAF is a 3 wire type and does not have a air temp sensor built in. The only other place might be in inlet manifold, but I can't see one there anywhere.

I am thinking that they dont have an air temp sensor because, with MAF, they simply dont need it.

Mine's 3 wire & no air temp sen, the Gv's run one as well as a MAF

Why you ask?? Is it throwing code's still?? :? :?

Yeah still throwing codes but it's not related.

I'm making an adapter so I can plug my Megasquirt into the stock G16 loom, and it looks like i'll have to run a seperate wire for a air temp sensor. It's no biggie.

Actually, I might have to see if I can borrow your MAF one day Stek because I think mine is a bit dodgy. Tested it today and with IGN on it outputs almost 6 volts, it should be closer to 1 volt 8O

But you'll blow mine up to 8O 8O 8O

Muahahahahahaaaaaaa!!!!!!

J/k, my ECU is fine, the MAF is a POS. Aftermarket junk

Shouldn't really need a temp sensor with a MAF referenced ECU since the MAF directly measures the air flow into the engine and accounts for temp.
Need air temp with MAP referenced schemes because the MAP measured the air pressure and the temp sensor is required to calculate the airdensity and hence flow.

Steak if your worried let him borrow your ecu as well as MAF :D

Always better to burn a matched set :P

Jr, yeah that's exactly what I was thinking re: the lack of IAT sensor. I'll just have to splice an extra wire into the loom for it. It's no big deal as i'll probably putting some extra ones in for a different ignition system anyway.

This thread is starting to look like the cat one..

If you need to you can borrow it, but you will have to pick it up.( I'm pretending to be busy)
You can get the rad support's to..

Why do you necessarily want to run MAF with the MS damo? PS I've got the details for bosche IAT and coolant sensors at home so I can get items to fit my g16a manifold. I can probably email them to you if you like. It gives the exact temp/voltage ratios so you don't need to use easytherm to "guess" the outputs.

I wanted to give it a go because MS-EXTRA now supports MAF. I'll be putting the temp sensor in regardless so if I have problems with getting the MAF working i'll just change over to speed density.

That would be good if you could send me the sensor info, does it have the part numbers for the matching sensors? They probably come out of Commodores or something like?

Yeah it's got all the part numbers and even the numbers for the corresponding loom connector pigtails. The best part foir me is it's got the thread details so I don't have to put anymore holes in the manifold than there already is.

Noooooooo get rid of the MAF and run a nice small neat MAP sensor :D . Cheaper too!! Wanna come for a scrounge at ABC wreckers for sensors and other random cool stuff. I need bits!

I will still be running the MAP because I need a manifold pressure reading for boost control 8). I think it will be a good thing to run one then the other both and see how they compare.

For ppl reading who dont quite get what we're dribbling on about, MAF vs. MAP are simply 2 ways of knowing how much air is going into the engine, which is important because once we know that the ECU knows how much fuel to put in.

With a MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor it directly measures the MASS (yes air weighs something) of air going past it. This figure can be passed directly to the ECU to be used to determine how much fuel should be delivered. A MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor measures the air pressure in the manifold, and that figure in addition to the temperature of the air and some other information stored in the ECU can be used to calculate how much air is flowing using the Ideal Gas Law. There is a good explanation of how it works in the Megasquirt Manual.

AFAIK only the MAP baleno coil pack G16B runs air temp sensor. Just after the airbox in the inlet pipe. I have this on cammo.

isnt the whole thing with hot wire maf's is the colder the air the denser so the MAF picks up on that anyway?

Hehe, haven't been in here for a week but I've been bashing Damo by email telling him to ditch the MAF. Hell the ecu he's running comes with an on board MAP sensor capable of 14psi (or is it 12...)

Standard MAP sensor on the Megasquirt will handle 21PSI. Don't stress i'll be leaving the MAF alone now
