ARGH its driving me mad!!!!

My drivers side door has a high pitch squeak that goes away if i press on the outer door skin (not the inner) or push hard on the window (from inside), or if i lean hard on the door with my arm while driving....

I know its definitely the door as i can replicate it with the door open and banging on the outer door skin (not while driving, lol).

Any ideas on how to get rid of the bloody noise????

Also - at the same time - my drivers side door hinges have a bit of play in them (can rock the door up and down while its open) - how do i tighten the hinge up???

you reckon its the hinge thats squeaking??? its definitely a vibration squeak... like it goes with the engine rpm... i wouldnt have thought the hinge would do that? The hinge just makes a clunk now and then when it shifts.

well when i got home from work i had a bash around the door and it sounded like it was coming from the mirror, so i pulled the plastic cover off and one of the screws was loose, so i tightened that - but no effect. then started poking around the trim/seals etc to no effect - im almost convinced its coming from one of the seams on the door skin.

Anyway - remembering im looking at a sierra, using my palm i bashed the door hard a few times around the area the sqeaking was coming from and low and behold - the squeak is gone!!!

Age old story - find a bigger hammer =P

aya alien, i think there's some stuff inside the door that contributes to the noises, and usually some foam or deadeners that stop the noises. If you still have issues, pull the door card off and stick foam or something between the rubbing surfaces. Stops the window/mechanizms/rattles too

thanks steve - yeah i popped out the 2 plugs on the door card closest to the top front of the door but couldnt be stuffed taking off the winder etc - thats when i decided to bash it instead =) haha
