Gday all went to a couple of tyre shops in my town to get some new tyres and after walking out im confussed on what to do. Was told the only tyre to fit the 92 vit was Kuhmo atrs and as the rims are only 15" theres not much that will fit and also was told its not worth fiting lift as its not going to give clearance (the diff will stay in the same place) so theres no advantage
Will 16" rims fit?
If not what can i put on the 15"
is lift worth putting on for easy to mild 4 wheeling?

Dont put 16" rims keep the 15's. A suspension lift wouldnt make much clearance but if you put in a 2" BODY lift you'll be able to fit 30" tyres easily absolutely no scrub. and of course gives you a bit more clearance for that glass diff.

The shops you went into must not have all that many tyres or knowledge lol.
There's PLENTY of tyres that fit on 15" rims. I personally wouldn't go to 16s cos the 15s are fine.
I fit 30" maxxis buckshots (30x9.5x15) under my 95 vit with no lift at all but I did have some scrubbing on full lock. My 2" BL gave me plenty enough clearance to stop the scrubbing, but suspension lift would probably give more comforte and better flex.

Yes it is a wise investment to get at least a 2" suspention lift especially if it still has the original 17 year old shocks and springs and you plan on going off road frequently. If you get the lift you would/should have no issues with fitting 235/75's

With a 3" suspention and 2" bodylift, they look small

30's fit very comfortably and I could fit up to 32's. (Reducton gears and guard chopping may be required though.)

If i go a body lift will i need to lengthen any of the brake lines or any other vitals, the tyre places i went to sell the likes of mickey thompsons and coopers and bridgestones ect ect ect, whats better suspension or body lift

Body lift is good if you need that extra bit of clearance to fit your tyres.
Suspension will give a comfier ride and possibly better flex.

If you wanna save your coin, just_cruizin sells a body lift kit on here. Best kit around.
I personally didn't need extended brake lines

I had an 89 Vit with 15in rims, and i got 215/75/15 Kumho Road Venture AT & LT = Light Truck, with the 825 tread pattern, and they gave me some lift, and they are a great all round tyre... i recommend them

some people at tyre places just dont care.... went to one and asked what they had in 215/75/15. gave me one kind of tyre and then said he had never had to fit that size to any car ever and assumed that no one else would make tyres in that size.

there are heaps and heaps of tyres that will fit a 15" rim......

Well fitting lift will leave the diff in the same place, its a fact... Tyres are the only way to lift the diff...

But a good lift kit will give you more flex, plus it'll lift the chassis and body and stop them catching on things...

I've been doing a bit of shopping around the last few days and got a similar story from one guy - to be fair he said it was not a common size, but he did say there were options. He suggested Cooper STs as I want a compromise on/off road setup.

There are plenty if you look around - maybe try the specialist 4WD shops for suggestions (ARB, TJM, Opp Lock etc) then see if normal tyre places can do them for cheaper.

X2 i have this in 235/75/15, had them on two cars (same set) and have done over 20,000k and havnt even noticed the slightest bit of wear. they look a bit old as they were on my 1st vitara when i got it. so yeah i recommend them.
