I am just in the process of putting a new clutch in my sj413 g13a 1.3< how to you disconnect and remove the starter??

Undo the nut holding on the heavy gauge wire. Pull the others off. Undo one bolt top and one bolt bottom (if I remember right they are 12mm) and it should come out. I always struggle with that top bolt.

from memory there's a nut/bolt at the bottom and a bolt at the top, where the transmission meets the starter, two wires to disconnect and it should just pull straight back (towards the front of the car)
small hands/arms will help

disconnect your battery first or you may end up with quite a few sparks if the positive lead flaps around too much

You dont even need to remove starter to do a clutch, just disconnect the earth terminal on battery, undo the two bolts holding starter motor on, then remove gearbox, easy.

get a set of ratchet spanners 8, 10 and 12mm will make life 20x easier, especially for things like taking the starter motor out
