I'm looking at doing a 1.6 conversion into the Sierra in the not too distant future.
I'm after a good condition 1.6 with loom. (good compression, low km's, no smoke etc). There's no rush but if there's one available for the right price, then I'll buy it and stow it in the garage for a rainy day.
I'm located in ACT. Can pickup in Sydney and anywhere inbetween. Can cover freight from other locations if it's ridiculously expensive.
Cheers,
Jimmy

Everything was in mint condition; engine was smooth, the body was in excellent condition (apart from a light hit to the front right), interior was mint and then I checked under the oil cap Milk. I then lifted the radiator cap. Milk. I'm in no mood to do a head gasket.
I'm really after something I can just bolt straight in and not have to worry about for at least 20,000km. I'm in no rush so i'm willing to wait for a good nick donk.
Thanks anyway Oxygenthief If you hear of any others, let me know.
That eBay one sounds alright. I'll get in contact with him tomorrow.

If i lived in ACT that would be in my backyard, even with a blown head gasket.

Too late, I slept on it, did a few calculations and bought it thismorning. Will be parting it out in about two weeks time. Anything that isn't required for a 1.6 conversion will be up for grabs.

Wise move. If the recon motor only has 40,000 on it, by the time you do the head it should be a pretty solid motor.
Hey stekky i'm too late

I picked up the Vit today. Managed to dust out the cobwebs in the cylinders. Got home, opened the oil cap and.... nothing. It was as clean as could be (apart from the oil obviously). There was absolutely no sign of milk or moisture I opened the radiator cap and all was well. I'm going to get her pressure tested tomorrow to confirm. If she's all good then i've just landed the deal of the century. If not, then it's still a bloody good deal!

Just got the engine pressure tested. First time a hose on the intake manifold leaked so I replaced it. Went back and got it tested again and all checked out to be okay! He reckons the milk I saw was just a bit of moisture buildup from the car sitting for a few weeks. This car just got soooo much sweeter

$500 is still a ridiculous price, you'll make money on it, even after tacking the engine out. As well as the fact you just for an engine that would usually go at wreckers for $800 without AC PS etc.
Top job mate.

If you look you will find.
There are a few sites I check every morning and have for the last couple of years. If you get in quick enough you can score well.
